Just hook up your computer to the router via ethernet cable. Choose one of the numbered ports on the back of the computer and plug the other end into your computer. Then go to a web browser either internet explorer, firefox, safari, opera, whichever one you like to use. In the URL box try putting http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 one of these should prompt you for a username and password the default being username: admin and the password: password. After that you can navigate to the wireless setting and then go to wireless security settings to look up or change your wireless security settings. If you have any troubles with this just comment back.

Why will it not hook to the wireless internet? I have netgear and I have the little thing that plugs in to the computer...

To connect your computer to the Internet via a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Trying to access the wireless using my netgear rangemax and need some kind of password or key..can u help?

You need the wireless security key from your wireless router. Log in to your wireless router using the admin login. Look for something like "wireless security" (depends on the brand and model) and look for WEP. The key settings should be there.

Netgear rangemax wireless router wpn824 how do you connect it and do i need a modem?

You need a modem. Without one you can't use a router. A router transmits an existing netwrok signal wirelessly. Without a source such as a modem from a cable provider a router can't function.

I,m trying to install netgear,so i can go wireless ,and when it asks for my network key ?i dont know it

you make it up yourself, for example choose wpa and then type in a phrase which will generate a key which you make note of, then type in your pc's to connect to the net, or you choose not to secure the network, therefore no need for a network key.

Wireless connection to netgear Rangemax Wireless router, see's router but won't connect?

Check your router to see if the DHCP server is enabled. If not, then either enable that, or manually assign your wireless network card an IP etc.

Also check the router to see if it is set to have access restrictions like mac address filtering. Even with the right IP setup on your wireless card, you will still need to be authorised in the mac address list of the router to gain access.

If you don't have another computer there, or a lan cable to connect to the router, then do a reset to default and it should have most if not all of the security features off and the DHCP server on.
