Start by removing the chain brake/side cover, make sure the brake is off before removing, remove the guide bar and chain, the clutch centre has two cut a ways designed to take a screw driver blade, the clutch is just spun onto the crank with a left hand thread, insert the screw driver into one of the cut a ways parallel with the machine, and strike with a suitable hammer, this will eventually jar the clutch off against the compression of the saw, it may well take a good few strikes, but it will go. There is a workshop tool availabe, with a 19mm nut on the top, and two legs to fit into the clutch centre, so as to fit an impact wrench and jar it off , part no. 502541601

Just changed the ring and now can't stop the chain from moving, Is there anything to check besides the carburator?

For the 455 Rancher.

First check the idle speed. It should be 2700 rpm. Clutch engages at around 3800 rpm. If the clutch is engaging below the 3800 then clutch springs need checking and replacing if needed.

If you can't get the idle speed down check for air leaks.

455e rancher oil tank leaks from the rubber hose that transports the oil to chain-bar. How do I change it and where can I buy it? Thanks

There are two hoses, the delivery hose and the pick up hose, to remove the delivery hose, start by removing the chain brake ( make sure is de activated before removing by pulling the hand guard fully back to the top handle ) now remove the clutch, there are two cut a ways in the clutch centre so as to insert a flat screw driver, now strike the end of the screw driver with a suitable hammer to jar the clutch off against the compression of the saw ( the clutch is just spun onto the crank with a left hand thread ) once off remove the sprocket and bearing, now remove the screw securing the silver protection plate over the bar pad and remove it, you can now just lift away the delivery hose, to replace the pick up you will have to remove the screw securing the oil pump and remove it, the pick up hose has a moulded grommet in the centre so you will have to diss lodge it to pry the hose from the oil tank, check out the web for sellers of these components, the part no.s are below.adw1_16.jpg

I have a 455 rancher.I take very good care of my equipment but. the manual states to lube the clutch bearing. How can I do this with out tearing the clutch apart. It may also need special tools?Any help...

The passage in the operatore manual is the same in all mauals, it is taken from the pro saw manual, here you can grease the bearing through the end of the crank, you cannot do this on the 455, you do need to remove the clutch and drum, the reality is that the drum bearing is only turning if the saw is idling without the chain rotating, the crank then turns in the drum, unless you leave the saw idling for long periods of time ( this is bad practice ) the bearing is doing very little, there is normally plenty of oil flying around to lubricate it, to remove the cluch there is two cut a ways in the clutch spider, these are designed to take the screw driver from the combi wrench, with a suitable hammer jarr the clutch against the compression of the saw until it un spins from the crank ( left hand thread )

How to change the oil pump and line on a Husqvarna 455 Rancher

Ok, start by removing the side cover/chainbrake,the guide bar and chain, there should be just two 13mm nuts holding the side cover on, if you have tooless adjustment there will be a single flip up lever to remove the securing nut, you now need to remove the clutch, there are two slots cut into either side of the clutch centre, these slots are designed to take a screw driver ( preferably the combi tool that came with the saw ) you can then jar the clutch off against compression by striking the end of the screw driver with a suitable hammer, the clutch is just threaded onto the crank, left hand thread, so comes off clockwise, once removed you can pull the clutch drum and bearing off, remove the single 4mm allen screw from the silver bar protection plate and remove the plate, you will now see the oil pump, held with one allen headed screw, the delivery hose will just lift off, the pick up hose and filter will come out of the oil tank once the pump is removed.

How do i remove the cluth drun on a husqvarna 455 rancher

Hi, first take off the clutch cover by removing the two bar nuts.
The nut on the clutch is left hand thread. You need to have some sort of piston stop to bind the engine when you remove the nut. They make tools just for that( it's called a piston stop) but I like using a small piece of rope. Just take out the spark plug, run a bit of the rope down in the cylinder and that will hold the piston really well. You could use a lof of things for that, I would be careful that it's something that won't gouge or mess up the top of the piston though. When you have that done you can remove the nut holding the clutch assembly on and remove the drum. ( REMEMBER that left hand thread ) Hope that helps you.
