Question about Foxconn M61PMV Motherboard

1 Answer

Just put a computer together with the Foxconn M61PMV board. It loads up with the Foxconn logo, all the parts are in the right places, and it works fine. However, I cannot input at all with a keyboard (USB and PS2 ports), which means I can't go into the Setup screen so I can set the boot order in order to install the OS onto the fresh HD in the system.

Yeah, just tried resetting the CMOS via jumpers and battery. No dice. So much for getting this computer to my mother for Sunday. Geez.

I would assume you've tried different ports and different keyboards.
If you have, I'd contact the reseller and RMA the board.
There's really nothing you can do with a board that won't go into the setup.
Just for kicks, remove the CMOS battery on the board before you email/call the reseller.

While computer's working, fumes come out. PSU is replaced. However the floppy power connector is plugged onto system fan pins! on the mobo. That means ground-12V power-ground sense-ground ...

The PSU has some overload protection but not the Mobo power buss. If you were lucky, you only shorted the PSU 12/5 volt output to the Mobo ground which took out the PSU. BUT if the PC will not start-up the 12V power buss on the Mobo was probably damaged as a result of accidentally grounding it with the fan plug.

It's impossible to identify which logic has been damaged without a schematic, and even if you had one, you would need specialized tools and parts to repair the board. Sorry, but the days of repairing these kinds of components are long gone.

My Foxconn motherboard M61PMV suddenly stopped booting up. No beeps, no monitor but computer powers up. Before this everything was working fine and the computer was shut down normally. Please help me solve...

Will your system come up in safe mode? Try a shutdown and unplug the tower. Plug the tower back in and see if it will come up in safe mode. If it does, go to "control panel", find "device manager" and right click on it. Find "display adaptors" and click on box at right(has a little + inside), it should drop down your device. right click o it and you sjhould see 'enable" or "disable". If it says enable click on that ad you should be good to go. Make sure your connections between tower and monitor are good.

Installed Windows Xp on foxconn board M61PMV. My eethernet connection is not showing up

Have you checked in the BIOS if it's active/not disabled? If yes, have you installed its driver (along al the others)? If not , get them from
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/support/downloads.aspx?ProductModel=M61PMV&TypeID=en-us0000004

If yes, have you checked that in Device Manager the LAN connection is correctly recognized?

Foxconn m61pmv mobo will not recognize anything in the SATA 3 or 4 slot

Check the BIOS setting. You might need to change the SATA/IDE controller to Enhanced mode!

Repeated failure to load Windows 7 HP

Hi.
Foxconn don't have this board on their list of their Windows 7 supported chipsets (which is hardly surprising), but as you state all your individual components should be perfectly OK with Windows 7 .
I suggest you flash the Bios because Foxconn had to produce a new Bios for Vista in order for that OS to run correctly.

Best of luck.

I want mother board AMD SEMPRON(tm) PROCESSOR free home edition

That chip should be a Socket AM2 interface, so these mothorboards will be fine, it all depends on how much you want to spend.

Foxconn M61PMV

PC chips A15G

Biostar K8M800MAM2

ABIT NF-M2PV

MSI K9N6PGM2-V

Have a look or ask at your prefered site or shop for Socket AM2 and you will have a much better choice.
