That symbol means you are in limp mode. This is caused by a failure in the system

Hi there. Usually the car with spanner you describe on your dashboard could be 1 of 2 things.
1 it could be your engine management light (meaning there is a fault somewhere in your engine)
2 it could be your service light (meaning your car is due a service)

The only way you will be able to find out exactly what this simbol means is by looking in your cars manual (usually a black book that comes with your car)

Due to your car only revving upto 3000revs, This could be a number of things.
1, lift your bonnet and unscrew the oil cap (yellow cap with oil logo on it)
If there is a mustard coloured residue on the cap and inside the engine, your head gasket is going or it has blown. (This is usually the main cause of your car only revving low and very expensive to fix.)

2, there may be a problem along the exhaust (a hole in the exhaust or broken joint , not so expensive to fix)

Hope this helps and please rate. If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment and i will get back to you asap.

Shogun pajero 1990 rev counter

hi i think your going to need to replace the speedo cable this goes from the back of the dash display through the bulk head then into the back of the gear box.
When you remove the old one remember how it came out as they can be fidly to do.
Im not 100% sure how much of the dash has to come out untill the display is free and you can get to the back of it.
The cables are not expensive but can be tricky to replace if you are unsure about working on vehicles.
Even if you took it to garage to get done it should not cost that much anyway if your going to do it yourself its best to buy the part before you reomve the old one so as you can follow the old one with the new one.
where it goes into the back of the rev counter this should just be hand tight and should undo the cap that holds it into the rev counter then it should pull out.
Where it goes into the gearbox you will need big spanners im not sure of size but usually about 17 or 19 spanner udon this and ot should pull out its splined into the gearbox once removed you will know if the cable is damaged by turning one end and see if the other end turns or not.
In the rare case that this cable is fine then you might find that the rev counter needs replacing this is not likely to be the problem though as they usually last as long as the car.
The gearbox end should have no problems so i would remove rev cable first and check this youll find it will have split in half.
If you need further assistance let me know or let me know if the rev counter is digital then let me know ok then i help you with that ok
