Install cartridge It tells me to install the yellow cartridge if I want to print in color. I have put two different yellow cartridges in the printer but it makes no difference. We're also having the same problem, with yellow ink only. Replacing the yellow cartridge doesn't make any difference, it still says yellow is out.

I've got the same problem, with the yellow only. I installed a new yellow cartridge yesterday, was able to print 3 or 4 pages of color, then this morning, it told me that the yellow was out and needed to be replaced. Had no luck getting help from HP technical support.

I have tried 2 new magenta cartridges and keep getting the response that it still needs to be replaced. The replacement cartridges are HP authentic refills so I don't know what the problem is..........................

Printing just fine until all at that once I get this message: "Problem with Black Print Cartridge Installation". One page okay, next page problem. I've switched out the cartridge and continue to have the same problem. Just like another poster, a test page prints just fine. Print jobs however, print about five pages and then look "weak".

My HP C5180 indicates magenta cartridge ink is low. Replaced it and got same message. Still prints in color when 'print in black' option is pressed. Wrote to HP. Got quick reply with long list of fixes. Tried all with no luck. Did anyone have any luck uninstalling and reinstalling?

I did a master reset and now it will print but the ink level for the yellow cartridge still shows "empty" even though it is a new one but at least it prints for now anyway.
Master Reset:
Turn off printer and unplug.
Hold down "OK" button and "Help" button and plug in at the same time.
Turn on printer and wait for reset to finish.
It worked for me. Hope it works for everyone.

I have the same problem with my magenta. I've installed a new cartridge and it just keeps telling me it's out. For awhile it was allowing me to print in black only, but now it just won't do anything. HELP!

I have never used the Photo ink Cartridge #58. It intal pic shows putting it where the black one goes-does this mean I would use the color and the photo one at the same time instead of the black one?

Yes correct. The photo cartridge has to be inserted, where you install black cartridge. The photo cartridge gives finishing touch to the photos which you print. The actual photo comes from the color cartridge only, but for lightness and darkness, the color(ink) from photo cartridge gets used.In photo cartridge there are three color ink, that are light pink, light blue and grayish black. In color cartridge there are three color ink, that are pink(magenta), yellow and cyan( blue).------------- This are the details.Thank you for using fixya.

Photosmart C5280. Instructions on photo cartridge 348 say remove both black and colour cartridges, then install photo cartridge in right hand cartridge holder. Printer screen then tells me to install...

Your printer uses the following cartridges:

HP 74 - Black ink
HP 75 - Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink
HP 99 - Photo Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta

You need Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta to print photos. To accomplish this you install the HP 99 photo cartridge where your HP 74 black cartridge usually goes and you keep the HP 75 color cartridge where it's at. I don't know why your printer told you to remove both cartridges, then reinstall the HP 75 color cartridge.

My printer is not printing. it will run the paper

I see you don't have much knowledge about printers. It always helps to know something about your printer. It seem you have a color printer. Usually a color printer has two cartridges. Black cartridge and color cartridge. The color cartridge usually contains three colors; cyan, yellow and magenta. If the black cartridge is empty, you won't see black text in the printed paper. Print a small photo and see. If it has all the colors, but looks dull (without proper black color), that means only the black cartridge is empty. If it is greenish, the magenta ink is missing. Generally orange colored printouts suggest cyan is missing. Likewise, purple color means the yellow ink is missing. If you installed the printer properly using the CD from the printer manufacturer, you will be notified when the cartridge is empty or close to run out of ink. But if Windows automatically installed your printer, then the system won't give such information. From the information you have supplied, I believe your blck cartridge is empty or missing. Oh, I almost forgot to say, some manufactures sell some printers (for example some Canon Pixma models) with only the color cartridge. Switch on the printer and open the printer cover. The cartridges will move to the middle. You can check whether the black cartridge is missing. Do not hesitate to contact us for further help.

Lexmark X1100 printer will not print black

I came up with a work around for printing black.

I changed the black cartridge with the color cartridge.
Then when I have a letter to print, I change change (or write) the letter text to yellow, red or blue.
Then I can print out a letter.

By printing the text as yellow, red or blue the cartridge will try to print with only 1 color, but will print out black.

If you do not use one of these primary printing colors the out put will be unusable.

I can not of course print out pictures.

Despite installing new cartridges, cleaning and priming, my HP Deskjet 710C prints pink only. Using Windows XP test page shows no blue, or yellow.

hi,
do you installing both cartridges (black and colour)?
if you do so, my advice is to reinstall the driver for your printer.

if you install ONLY the black cartridge, and the color cartridge remain the old one, (which in my opinion is the present case), your problem is from the color cartridge.
The color cartridge have 3 colors and this are: cyan (some kind of blue), yellow and magenta (similar with a pink color, but more intense). The problem is simple: in your color cartridge has left only the magenta color, cyan and yellow tanks are empty.

have 2 options:
1. buy a new color cartridge
2. refill the color cartridge.

Ink cartridge light keeps blinking

you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.

C88 only green and yellow

You are out of black and magenta (tricolor cartridge) ink or ink has dried up.
Try touching the nozzle plate (underneath print cartridge) with a water dampened cloth (not alcohol) for cleaning clogged nozzles (do not rub).
Ultimate remedy : put in contact nozzle plate with hot water for about 5 seconds.
If color still missing your printer need new cartridges.
