Question about Troy Garden

1 Answer

It will not start. I tried squirting starter fluid in the carburetor by taking off the air filter. I t would then start for a few seconds until the starter fluid was gone. I did that several times to see if it would finally catch on, but to no avail.

Hello rino.... Make sure you have fresh fuel in the tank, a new spark plug, and a new air filter. Then get that can of starter fluid and a helper. Have the helper continue to squirt a little starter fluid into the air intake after you have removed the air filter. Keep spraying until the engine runs for a couple of minutes and takes off on it's own.

IF after a few minutes of doing this drill with the starter fluid it still won't run on it's own you then have no choice but to disassemble the carb. and clean it. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

I JUST BOUGHT A NEW POULAN WOODSHARK CHAINSAW AND IT WILL NOT START

hello red.... how aggravating. Check to be sure the chain is not too tight. Check to be sure it has the right mix of fuel and oil, a clean filter, and a new spark plug. Then get a can of starter fluid and a helper. Remove the air filter and have your helper squirt a little starter fluid into the air intake. Once it starts have the helper continue to squirt starter fluid until it will run on it's own, usually a couple of minutes. Joe

The tb475ss trimmer will not start.

It is difficult to diagnose a no start problem without the machine being on hand. You need to check for blue spark, fresh oil and fuel and a clean air filter. You also need to verify that the engine isn't worn out and that it has compression. To try and get it to start, remove the air filter and squirt some aerosol type carburetor/choke cleaner into the opening to the carburetor. If it runs a few seconds, that is good and eliminates some of the causes. It may just need a good carburetor cleaning. Post back with results.

Remove the air filter and take a close look at it with a bright light. It may be clogged. IF so, replace it. Also get a can of starter fluid and a helper. Have your helper squirt a little starter fluid into the air filter opening while u start it up. IT will start. Then keep it running by adding more starter fluid until the problem clears, usually within a minute. Joe

Hi. Replace the air filter. Then use some starter fluid and an assistant. Spray some starter fluid into the air intake as you start it up and keep spraying so that it runs on the starter fluid for a few seconds until it really takes off. J.

If this does not do it then you will have to have the carburetor rebuilt as it has hardened gunk in it.

Make sure you have a new air filter, new spark plug and fresh fuel. Then get a can of starter fluid and a helper. Squirt some starter fluid at the air intake and start it. Have your helper continue to squirt the starter fluid to keep it going as this will clean out the entire combustion chamber. J.

! have a Troy built mower with a Honda engine, it quit running and will not start. I changed the spark plug, it ran for about one hour. Now the mower will not start.

Hello. If the gas has been sitting all winter, remove it with a siphoning bulb and put in brand new gas, not even gas that you have been storing all winter. Also, change your air filter. Finally get a can of starter fluid and a helper. While one person squirts a bit of starter fluid into the air intake [near the air filter] the other person starts it and use more squirts of starter fluid to keep it running. Joe
