Question about LG 42LH30 42 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

I have a USB flash drive with JPEG files and I am unable to get it to work when I plug it into the back of my LG 42LH30. I scroll through the input menu and there is no icon that indicates an input for USB storage device ... but the input is on the back of the TV. How do I get the TV to recognize the USB flash device?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have an LG 22LG30-UA monitor that I would like to use to show PPT via the USB port. Can this be done? The USB port says "Service Only"

No, the USB port is only for firmware updates when the 22LG30-AU is in service mode. You would need some sort of computer connected to the TV to show a PowerPoint file on that screen. (Even one of the HDMI dongle computers would work, if you can use a USB hub to add USB ports. You will need to have either some version of a PowerPoint Viewer, Microsoft Office or Open Office available on that computer.)

The manual for the LG 22LG30-UA is available from the product support page: http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-22LG30-UA . Scroll down to the Manuals section The direct link to the manual is currently http://www.lg.com/us/lgecs.downloadFile.ldwf?DOC_ID=KROWM000189658&what=MANUAL&fromSystem=LG.COM&fileId=KROWM000189658.pdf&ORIGINAL_NAME_b1_a1=eng.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(I have not seen a TV with a USB port that could handle PPT files natively. If the USB port isn't labeled Service only, many can show jpeg pictures or mp3 audio files. Fewer can handle movies, mp4, files. Often these are TVs with Smart (internet) functions.)

How do I watch movie that is on a USB on the D510. screen shows file but no access

The Photos viewer only supports JPEG format images (with ".jpg" file extensions) and not all JPEG files are compatible with your TV. For more information, see "About USB flash drives".

Check your USB memory to make sure that it comply with the points below:
1) USB standard USB 2.0 full speed
2) Media file format support MP3 (.mp3) WMA (.wma) JPEG (.jpg) (.jpeg) MPEG4 (.asf)
3) USB device file system FAT12, FAT16, FAT32
4) USB Port power Max. 500 mA

As you can see
1) You should format your USB in windows format (FAT system)
2) The files on your USB should be those mentioned above on point 2.
3) 2.5" hard drives most likely do not work without an external power supply.

you can download the manual from HERE !

My lg lcd tv has a usb port but only recognises photo and music. I would like to be able to play movies using the usb.Is this possible and if so how??

You need to activate it first, here are the steps:

1. Press the enter(OK) both on the remote and the TV at the same time...hold for about 5 seconds
2. Password - 0000
3. Go to tool option 3
4. Change Jpeg to 1
5. Change Divx to SD or HD
6. Exit and try it out.
You will notice that now there are 8 inputs in the option list instead of 6 - Including a USB input.

Hope this helps

I have an LG 42LH30-UA LCD. Using the HDMI there is a delay between picture and audio. Doesnt make a difference what HDMI cable I use or what source(PS3, Cable, or Surround). Any ideas?

If you are in Canada, call LG and they will send a service tech to apply a firmware update to your tv and input some codes. Apparently they used to send you a usb flash drive to do the update, but some degree of technical skill is involved so they now send a local tv tech.

When I open JPEG file, I get ''No preview available''

If ou copied them from a flash memory card eg SD, USB, its possible that a setting on the port or card reader was incorrect and the file did not copy correctly even though the file size may look correct.

It is not a common problem but one that does happen from time to time with removable memory devices. If you plug a usb flash drive in then call up its properties from within windows explorer and check the various tabs you will find one that says optimise for quick removal it is usually under the policy tab.

Can't transfer Jpeg files to Flash Drive

A flash drive should not discriminate over what file you try to put on it, so long as the drive is big enough to store the file in question. Don't try to write to the flash drive directly, always transfer files already stored on your hard drive to it.
