Brand new PS 3. saying I do not have enough free space and need 419 MB - even installing the initial components wouldn't take up 80GB!

I finally bought my router from amazon ($45) which enabled me to sign up for playstation network. From there I downloaded a free trial game and deleted it which allows you to play ratchet and clank. I am not very computer savy so it took me a bit to get the playstation online via the router. After playing the game for a week I can honestly say that it was worth all the trouble. One of the all time great games especially if you have kids. Using a wireless router seems to be the only way to overcome your situation. I wasn't thrilled about having to buy it after the money I spent on the PS3 but at least I am now connected to the Playstation network and can download Ratchett and Clank part II (can't remember title).

Hello.
You will need to make free space on your hard drive. If there is a game you beat and do not need the info anymore, go to game data ande delete anything that has to do with that game. Also delete and pictures, videos, or demos that you do not need anymopre. Most of these newer games need to install information on your hard drive in order to run smoother and faster on your game console.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you!!

What is 419mb for ps3

MB = Megabytes, as I'm assuming that's what you're referring to. 419 Megabytes is close to half of a Gigabyte, or GB. One GB = 1,024 MB

Megabytes and Gigabytes are measurements of digital storage. Every PS3 has a certain amount of data it can store. You can make a rational decision on whether to use 419 MB of info for your game by looking at how much you have installed and how much your console holds.

For example, if you have a 60 GB console, then 419 MB is only about 1/150th of your storage capacity, so as long as you don't have tons of games and get lots of DLC, you should be fine.

Also, you can delete data at any time you want from your PS3, so putting it on there now doesn't mean it must stay there forever.

I just tried to update my ps2 with the new updates for FFXI. I get an error code that reads insufficient HD D space & requires 1010 MB of free space to update. After reviewing the capacity which is...

This isn;t a H.D.D. problem. Something is wrong with the FFXI version update for PS2. I have the same issue too and my H.D.D. space is practically the same. I don't even use my H.D.D. for anything except FFXI. The only solution I can think of is to contact Square-Enix/Playonline to inform them so that they are aware of the problem. But do not do anything to your H.D.D. and/or do not format it until Square-Enix makes a statement.

Need 419 mb space wen i brought console new

Maybe it wasn't brand new after all.

You can clear up the old user data by deleting it from the GAME menu. Check Game Data Folder.

If there are games that you've never played before or games that you aren't going to play anymore go ahead and delete the files.

Best of luck!

I also have that problem

For those of us eager to get some platforming action joy with Insomniac Games' latest next-gen masterpiece on the Sony PlayStation 3, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, you may have encountered a glitch that stops the fun dead in its tracks. Thankfully, a workaround has been provided by none other than Insomniac Games itself through the company's own community manager James Stevenson.

So what causes the video gaming happy to suddenly cease and desist? James Stevenson explains that like Resistance: Fall of Man, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction needs to install a few files into your hard drive for the game to actually run. Here's where things start getting a little dicey: even though you've got loads of free space on your hard drive, the game could read your hard drive as full, and therefore refuse to install. Ouch.

What's the workaround, then? It's really a simple procedure. James advises that to make the problem go away, all players need to do is either free up 500 megabytes' worth of space, or download 500 megabytes worth of data from the PlayStation Network Store. Yes, we know, it's weird, having to fill up your hard drive just so a game can detect all the loads of free space available, but if it lets us play something as good as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, then fill up we must.

PS3, Ratchet & Clank, HDD Full, need 419 MB Free Space...

For some reason this software has a glitch that won't allow it to load unless you delete one of your profiles from any game. I deleted/transfered to stick a 132 MB profile from Saints row II and it loaded. I didn't need to delete 419 MB as it stated. The game loaded and plays perfectly now. I see that even a new virgin system with zero profiles does the same thing. I guess you need to download any profile of any size and delete it before you can load this one. It should have been worked out before the game was released. I am sure that there were more than a few unhappy kids Christmas morning due to this. Thank you anyway.

Ratchet and clank will not play on my ps3

Get a music CD and put it in the machine, then press the triangle and select import. You may have to use more than one CD to get it to work. There are some files missing that are needed for Ratchet & Clank which are on music CD's.

It worked for me.

Ratchet and clank future: tools of destruction game doesnt play

I have read through some forums for you, and it appears that there is a bug that reads your disk as full even if it is not. The fix is to add at least 500MB of game data to your harddrive, then it will work. I think the bug was on the american version of the game. It read an almost empty harddrive as full.

I hope this helps
