the glass surface is all one piece 30" X 22" attached to the body of the unit.

are you saying i have to completely remove the unit from its present position?

The Fan Control Switch is located in the middle top front of the glass top near the vent opening.

If i take the complete unit out I still have to get at the Fan Control Switch.

How will I remove the switch. which is no where near the blower.

    Thanks Terry

I received the parts for the stove top this afternoon, I had ordered the switch, the Knob and the Sleeve. 3 parts. I started to take the know away from the switch in the stove top, I noticed that the knob broken where it connected to the shaft on the3 switch. Because I ordered a new knob I installed it on the shaft of the shaft of the Switch and re-connected the power. Now it works just like new. and I don't have to dis assemble the stove top, I will return the two Parts and get a refund.
I THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. I ACCEPT THIS SOLUTION. TERRY

1. Turn off the power at the breaker box.
2. Then lift off the air grill.
3. Then remove the two screws at the front of the control switch panel (escutcheon)..
4. Then slide the control panel forward until it disengages, then lift up to expose the switch assembly and wiring.
5)- Then disconnect the switch wiring connector and remove the switch. ------------- For where the switch is located and its diagram. Please click on the link below:----- http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http%3a%2f%2fc.searspartsdirect.com%2flis_png%2fPLDM%2fM0610011-00002.png ----------- The part number 8 in the diagram is switch. ------------- Remove stove top from the counter. Remove the glass frame and glass from the top. Remove the broken switch. Replace with the new switch. Reassemble the unit and replace it in the counter top.

One problem is the switch only fits in the space one way because of the first burner light. When installed the only way the knob fits on the switch stem makes the dot on the knob backwards. So take care, when you remove the old switch , note down its placing position. That will help you when you refit new switch.
----------- For top disassembly, please click on the link below:--- http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Jenn-air-Parts/Cooktop-Parts/Model-JED8430ADW/1266/0121040/M0610011/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=JED8430ADW -------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi, you have to remove the top before you can replace the new part...

Remove any ceramic-glass tops or vent grills and filters present on the surface of the Jenn-Air range top by lifting them out of place and setting them aside.

Cut the power supply at the main circuit breaker by switching the circuit that controls the range top to the "Off" position.

Open the cabinet beneath the Jenn-Air range top. Clear out any objects in the way so you can access the blower and connections to the electrical or gas, if present.

Locate the gas-supply valve underneath the range top in gas models. Turn the valve to the "Off" position. Unscrew the gas hose.

Locate the blower, which is the large, circular device to the side underneath the Jenn-Air range top. Disconnect any venting attached to the blower. The venting is held in place with clamps, strips or tape.

How to remove the stove top on frigidaire stove model FFGS3025PS

IF you open the door to the stove, you will see screws under the lip of the cook top, take those out, check the back of the stove for screws and then lift the cook to. On some models you may have to remove the sides of the stove too.

I ordered a replacement switch for the JED8430ADW. The previous switch was 7403P406-60. The replacement switch is 12002125. I have no clue how to re-connect the wiring. it looks nothing like the old...

There was a design change related to this switch. I had the same problem earlier today and figured it out by getting the schematics from searspartsdirect.com. There are two different schematics there (in English). The old schematic is labeled "DIAGRAM NO. 8104P688-60". The new one has five notes in the lower left (that don't help). The key is to split out the red wire coming back from the double burner element. The old way had it connected to "N" along with the RED source power. The new way has it connected to terminal "2" all by itself with the RED source power now connected to terminal "P2". But in addition, you have to add an extra jumper wire that should have come with your new switch that goes from "P1" to "S1". The other connections simply move from the old switch to the new where the locations can be seen on the schematics by referencing the wire colors (example: TAN wire moves from the old "3" to the new "4", etc.). If you are not 100% sure of what you are doing - you shouldn't try this. A wrong wire in the wrong place can short out 240V when you throw the breaker (boom!). Good luck. -- Mark.

Im having problems with my electric Gaffers Sattler stove. One of the burners is alwas on high when you turn it on. I cant find a serial number. Thank you for your time.

The switch that controls that burner is defective.
Pull out the lower pan drawer and look for a model number on the range cabinet.
If you can not find a model number, unplug the range, remove the switch and get a part number from the switch.

Display on clock fade out but if i cover it for a few min it come back up mod. jenair cook top sve87600b

Hello,

I've often seen the display on these units go dim due to a failure in the control board. It may well start out as an intermittent failure. Your comment about covering it reminds me that some ovens have an ambient light sensor to automatically dim the display but I don't recall seeing that on your model.

In either case, it sounds like the classic failure mode we often see.

If you can have the control removed, we may be able to help you, we repair oven controllers at www.fixyourboard.com.

The jenair made a popping sound, wasn't even turned on. Then found it didn't work at all. Flipped the breaker, and it would immediately flip back, the Jenair would also make the same popping sound.... Do...

I had the same problem. Mine was caused by liquid seeping into the infinite switch (the switch that gets rotated by the knob to set burner temperature). This caused one of the live wires to short to ground within the switch. Bad Design IMHO. Replacing the switch fixed the problem (you can get replacement parts at Searspartsdirect.com - search using the cooktop model number).
You first need to remove the unit from its installation. Start by disconnecting the exhaust fan from the ductwork. Then push the cooktop up.
To get at the switch you need to remove the top by taking off only the top row of screws all around the unit and also in the down draft cavity (the down draft cavity is where the grease guard mesh is)

Just bought a house, no manuals

After a pot spillover, the cleanup process triggered my stove top to "control lock"

I removed the pot and once the stove top cooled I pressed and held the "control lock" button.

It began to blink, I released it and then the light went off and the stove top operated normally.

You might not have to wait for the stove top to cool. I don't know.

Stove top dual infinite switch

If the new switch is a substitute, should have come with instructions.
If no instructions, I would suggest matching the markings on the switch next to each terminal.eg, match terminal marking on old switch as L1 to marking on new switch as L1. The markings are industry standard and should match from old switch to new switch.

If you need further assistance, let me know
