Broken fuel line inside gas tank to fuel filter

What is your model AND serial number please? The fuel line itself is sold by PN or in bulk and you can purchase bulk fuel like at most any lawn mower repair shop. With a model and serial number I can find you the exact replacement part. We normally cut the old fuel line under the fuel tank and use a piece or wire or a scribe to fish the fuel line and filter out of the tank. You must thread the new line from the bottom of the tank far enough to install the fuel pick up tube / assembly then pull it back down until there is about 3 to 3.5 inches remaining in the tank and then cut the bulk fuel line to the proper length so that you can attach it to the carb fuel manifold.

If it is micro bore hose it is not so easy, however, remove the filler cap, using a pair of long nose pliers pull any hose left out, take a new hose, cut one end off at a angle appprox 1" long, as this will now be smaller than the hole in the tank, feed it into the top of the tank as far as you can get it to go in, now using the long nose pliers through the filler hole, grab the hose and pull it through.

Poulanproleafblower not primeing

Either your fuel is broken inside the tank or your carb is blocked up inside. Empty the fuel tank and look inside and see if you fuel inlet line has a little plastic or metal filter on the end. *(this is called a "clunk") The clunk keeps the fuel line in gas no matter which way you have the blower tilted. Chances are you will see the clunk just laying in the bottom of the tank with whats left of the fuel line still attached. If the fuel line and clunk are intact then your need to get a diagram of the carb and do a dissembly and cleaning. The carbs have tiny screen filters which jam up with debris and gelled fuel. So a rebuild kit with new filter would be a good thing to get if your carb is cruddy. You can look online at Poulanpro and see which kit you need to buy. They are 10-15 bucks usually. New fuel lines is also a good idea if you are going this deep into the unit. Be safe and good luck!

A special fuel filter must be on the end of the fuel lines going into the tank, the line should be long enough for the filter to move around by gravity to stay in the fuel as the tank empties.

How do I replace a broker fuel line? The one broken has a filter inside the tank.

Hi doug c197...

I will also include a fuel routing drawing.
Before you remove any fuel lines, make a drawing or take a picture of how the lines are connected to the tank for later reference.
You will need to remove all the old fuel lines and fuel filter out of the gas tank.
After you have all the fuel lines and filter removed.
You need a piece of wire...smaller diameter than the inside of the fuel line, insert the wire into the fuel line until it exits the fuel line then bend a hook on the end of the wire to hook over the fuel line.
You will lubricate about 1 inch of fuel line with a small amount of vasoline or light machine oil...
Now using your fingers or small needle nose pliers collapse the fuel line around the wire hook and insert it into the hole in the fuel tank.
After you have the fuel line in the tank, extend enough fuel line into the tank to exit the fill spout of the tank and remove the wire from the fuel line.
You will insert the new or cleaned fuel filter into the line and pull the fuel line to pull the filter just back into the tank.

It can be frustrating at times but not as hard as it looks. Cut the line on an angle and feed it into the hole in the tank ( should be a VERY snug fit or it will leak). Using a set of long hemostats reach in and pull the end of the line through the filler cap. Cut the line sraight and attatch the fuel filter and insert it into the tank. Then pull the fuel line back out of the tank till you have the proper amount in tank and filter lays nicely on the bottom. Then cut fuel line to length for proper fit to carb.

Have ryobi 35 head, does not get gas, everything ok. someone said that the gas tank has a filter clogged or line broken. primer seems to be pulling air.

If you are pulling air and you don't get enough fuel, the filter in the tank may either one that is weighted and is just placed on the end of the fuel line. Or it could be one that is attached to the tank with a nipple sticking through and held in place with a ring around the fuel line and pressed up tight to the tank, over the nipple. There is also the possibility that your fuel line is broken somewhere. If you cannot see the break, it would be inside the tank. Good luck,,,Lee

Hi, dont know too much about craftsman, I think it's part of Sears so your strimmer will be badge enginered, if it has two fuel lines my guess is it's japanese, fuel line is available at your dealer or local home base store, if the fuel lines just enter the tank through holes try to get rubber pipe, it seals better, although a clear pipe would be better for the return pipe, thats the one that just pokes into the tank, it's perpose is to return fuel to the tank after priming the carb, to ascertain which is which place your finger over each nipple on the carb in turn as you press the primer button, one will **** on your finger and connects to the filter the other blows and is the return, the return pipe only has to just enter the tank, thats all. hope this helps. a new tank will cost a small fortune if it's japanese. hope this helps. regards Tony (England UK)

Occasionaly the engine shuts off and won't start on JD gx345.

If the fuel pump is working correctly then the problem is between the tank and the pump. run a fuel line from the pump to a gas can. If the pump is working it will siphon the fuel into your filter. If the pump is fine then there is blockage, broken fuel line (sucking air), or something blocking the pick up inside the tank.
