Question about Garden

1 Answer

We purchased the Heath/Zenith TR-0081-BX Wired Door Bell. However, we can not get the chime to continuously play without holding the bell down for expended period of time. How can we fix this? I lost the manual.

There is a little "diode" that should have been provided as part of the unit...it's a little wire with a B-B-sized circuit in the middle that has to be connected to the push-button at the door. This "extends" the circuit from the button to the chime unit for the full 8-notes. Hopefully you still have that part (I just about threw out mine before I read the instruction manual thoroughly. My diode just "shorted" after I power-washed my house...and I am in search of that particular part. I contacted Heath Zenith...hopefully they will give me a solution on how to get only that part. In any case, you need that diode to get the chime to play correctly.

The manual available from the link is for a Desa door bell and might be similar to yours. Check the procedure for selecting tunes.

When door bell is pushed the chime unit playes through all of the songs instead of just one.

The unit is receiving electricity so low-voltage transformer and button are working correctly.
Only suspect left is door chime itself.
Check that voltage of transformer matches voltage of chime.
Use cheap multimeter from home center and check voltage at chime, or check transformer.
Doorbell transformers are usually located in basement or garage or attic, and most are hardwired into octagon box.
There are no replacement parts for door chimes.
Buy new one, or contact seller for refund if this is new chime.

Possibly check the outdoor push button. It may be possible that it has moisture in it causing a short.

Hello! i've purchased one of your door chimes

Each push button should have jumpers in the back of them. By the description you say its the wireless but your text describes wires. If it is the wireless there should be jumpers, little black blocks that make an electrical connection, inside the push buttons and the receiver. Be sure you read the manual about which ones go where for your dual operation.
