Error Er15:RS-232Err

I have had this machine for 3 years and it worked perfectly until yesterday when it gave this error. Er15:RS-232Err. The user manual gives no instructions as to how to fix it. I have tried isolating it from computer etc but it won't work beyond the initial paper setup
Thanks
John

You didn't say what machine it is, and you didn't say what OS you're running on it, or in which context it gave the error. Is this a BIOS screen error? In that case you'd look up the answer in a Peter Norton guide to PCs or such. Seriously, it's in the PC Desktops list and I'm suspecting it's actually a printer you're talking about. Get your story straight and (after studying up as much as you can on your own) put your question or success story up in the right category.

Great!  In that case, doublecheck the cables and try to run a self-test on it.  Sometimes RS-232 cables power lines fail, especially if your Roland really demands 12V...so it could be the computer interface or on the Roland if the cables are fine.  Start by installing a new RS-232 PCI card on the PC and if that fixes it, leave a note on the equipment log to fix it next time you take the motherboard out and maybe order replacement parts if things aren't all integrated into chipsets.  If that's not it, you get to find the failed part on the Roland's serial (RS-232) interface.

You have two different errors. "PPPPPPPP" means the printer has run out of paper. Change the paper roll then press clear (CL). "E32" means you have logged off and no one has logged on to use the machine. Enter your log on code and then press CLK#.If you need a manual for the XE-A20s, one of our users has it here:

I have a TE 2000 casio till, it is printing Error 180 on the receipt roll & on the display it will state the relevant header ie reg, x, y, calc but will have flashing dotted lines under the heading....

This is an RS-232 error. It means the machine is trying to communicate with another device. If you have a PC or other device connected to the port, make sure you do not power it up with the cash register turned on or you will often receive this error. If the error just happens during normal use with nothing plugged into the port, then it has a fault. Some models were affected by this. It will often lock the register up until turned off and left to cool. A dealer can repair this problem. ------------------------------------------------------

Three friends went to a hotel. The bill was Rs 75/- >Each one contributed Rs.25/-. > >The waiter took the bill to the cashier. > >The cashier was happy & decided to give them a discount...

Here you need to under stand the question properly. The waiter returned the 1 rupee to the three freinds. So the remaining 24 rupees is the expense occured for them including the bill and waiter tips of 2 re.
24*3=72(bill 70 re+waiter 2 re).Remaining one rupee has been given to each of them.

Cannot reboot unit after inserting new batteries

THIS IS A CMOS PROBLEM AND THE BATTERY THAT KEEPS ALL THAT IMPORTANT INFORMATION STORE ON A CHIP IN THE MOTHERBOARD AND THE BOIS SETTING,
EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE MACHINE OFF IT DOESNT REMEMBER WHAT IT DID THE DAY BEFORE BECAUSE THE BIOS SETTING ARE CLEARING EVERYTIME YOU RESTART THE MACHINE.

Computer password

When your computer starts up, push the right "F" button (for me it is F12) and navigate until you find the start up mode called "Safe Mode". You can't do much here but it can delete administrator passwords. Go to control panel and user options, click the user and click remove password. It should work, I just forget how to enter Safe Mode. It took me about 5 reboots to find it.

eMachine's customer service was very good last I had occasion to use it. The keyboard that came with a system had a QWRRTY keyboard (E was missing) and I had the new one by 2nd day air with no return needed.

I recommend giving them a shot first since this issue may even be known to them.

I found Cnet's closing paragraph on your machine helpful too:

"We also like, as always, the BigFix application, which provides you with direct support help from Gateway, eMachines' parent company (which is, in turn, owned by Acer).
For the rest of this system's support, eMachines offers one year of parts and labor coverage, as well as 24-7 toll-free phone support. Online you get system-specific support resources, as well, along the lines of driver downloads, live chat, and other features. Because each eMachines is a fixed configuration, any support tech you come across should know exactly what kind of hardware you have, at least out of the box."
