If you can clean the spot where oil is leaKing, Apply some two part JB Weld for metal on it and keep the oil away from the repaired spot until it cures.

Unless you're a welder. I don't think so. In addition, ALL the oil will have to be drained from the heater and then replaced, which could be a real headache. Personally, I wouldn't undertake it as a DIY project, with the expectation of success. Check to make sure, the heaters not still under warranty, as this leak is a manufacturing defect. Unless, you did something to cause the leak.

Hope that helps answer your question,

Oil is leaking from the heater. can it be saved or do i get rid of it

There are some "experts" on here that would tel you it can be repaired. And certainly, the leak could be repaired, but refilling the heater with the correct oil and in the correct amount, is a **** shoot at best. I look at it this way ... If it leaked once, it's going to leak again, in a different place. So, it's really not worth repairing. Get a new one.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a 6 yr old Pentair Minimax NT heater that just started leaking water. Is it worth it to repair it, or should I just buy a new one?

Buy a new one. I spent $650 beginning of season to replace the manifold that was leaking and now it is broken. Again. Had since new and every year it breaks, sometimes twice. 6 years of dealing with this piece of junk.

Small leaking from oil and fluids gaskets, do I need repairs

Cars are not supposed to leak.

A small oil leak will eventually make the whole engine slimy.

If you forget to keep putting oil in, a leak can destroy the engine from running out of oil.

You don't have to have it repaired, but if it is an inexpensive repair, I think you should. (Some oil leak repairs require somewhat extensive engine disassembly, and are not cheap...)

Will a crack in the shell make the heater leak??

If the metal has cracked, it is only a matter of thime before it starts to leak. I wouldn't use it unless you are home. If it does leak, it can cause the heater to overheat and be a potential fire hazard
