Hi mavis4491,

This problem usually is due to communication problem
Here's the step:

1. Click your start button
2. Go to Control Panel -> Printers
3. Right Click on your printer and uncheck OFFLINE.

IF the above steps did not work try these:
1. Disconnect your printer
2. Click Start
3. type RUN on Start Search (VISTA/W7) or Run (XP)
4. Type services.msc
5. Go to Print Spooler
6. Stop the service then Start the service again. Under Recover Tab - Select Subsequent Failure and toggle it to Restart the service.
7. Restart your computer and plug the cable back

Hope this helps
Good Luck!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Printer offline

Depends on your OS you need find "printer and faxes" or "printer options on the hardware.

  • Open the Start menu and click on the "Devices and Printers" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.

  • Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. The status of the printer will be shown as either "Printer: Ready" or "Printer: Offline."

  • Click on "Printer: Offline" and the Printer menu will appear. Click on "Printer" in the menu bar and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.

I checked everything, the printer is connected, there's ink, everything is good, but it says it's offline. I clicked "Use printer online", but it's still offline. I tried Refresh, and it's still...

The first thing I would check is the cable. If you're using a USB connection, try a different (and known to be good) USB cable. If that doesn't do it, you may have a damaged USB connection socket at the printer, which is not cost effective to repair.

Hope that's helpful.

I made some copies last week and now my printer won't print. It keeps saying it is offline. I've turned it off, changed ports into the computer, shut the computer down, and tried most of the things I can...

I can't print, it keeps saying the printer is off-line. But it is not.

First go to control panel and click on printers and faxes. Make sure the correct printer is selected as default. Right click on your default printer and click on properties. In the list that pops up there should be a "use printer offline" or "use printer online". If it says use printer online, click that to turn the printer on as it's offline.

It could also be as simple as to reboot the computer or to shut the printer off and then back on to get it to work.

Status on print job says offline dell m5200

    a few questions:

-Do you know this printer IP?
    -Can you ping this printer?
-How many printers do you have on your network?
-Did all the printers on your network offline or just this printer?
-Did you check the network cable that connected to your printer?

    solution:
-you might try to restart printer spooling service on your print server
    or
-If your server is still functional, you might try to reinstall/set up this printer on network

i do not have areason for why the printer continuously goes offline but there is a way to put it temporarily back online. Go to printers in the control panel. right click on d7260 and click on use printer online. This only seems to work for one or two docs before you have to repeat the process.
