Question about Ingersoll Rand Electrical Supplies

1 Answer

I have a G-235 generator that has a computerized starting system. As soon as I start it, it revs up really high without any electrical draw on the generator instead of idling. Can you give me some information as to what might be causing this problem ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You, Byron

Your generator should be running @ 1800 rpm if its diesel . I have a 40 kw diesel generator and it starts up and runs a full 1800 rpm with no load . Thats how there designed because they have a 4 pole alternator. Hope this helps.

Hi, While browsing the net for a answer to my Ryobi 950 Generator problem i came across this site, hope you can help. I tried running my Ice making machine (400 watt on specs tag) of this 950...

A compressor (which the ice machine uses), draws a considerably large amount of power upon start-up. Many generators cannot handle these transient loads effectively, as their regulators are not designed for those kinds of loads.

Dometer 3105457. how big of generator for the air

If it is a normal AC for RV then I would suggest something over 4000 watts, the AC's have a very high start amps.

You would really need to know how many amps the unit draws or is rated to draw when looking for a generator. Too small of a generator and it won't work, plus you could damage the generator and the AC unit. I would call an RV store and ask them as that is something simple for them to answer.

My electricity provider is not reliable. I own 3 of your towers to heat individual rooms. I have settled on a generator to have when I lose power again. I want to run one of your towers, a light and a...

Each one of your heaters draws 1500 watts on HIGH & 900 watts on LOW. Obviously, your generator can not operate all three on HIGH. On low, all three would require 2700 watts of your generators power. Which leaves very little to operate any other electrical appliances in your home. Becasue these are electric ceramic heaters, there is no surge to them, when you turn tum ON. The wattage listed above, is continual wattage, when they are in use. There has to be an electrical motor involved to have start up surge (i.e Refrigerator, freezer, etc)

So, just operating what you described, will not use up all of your generator's power. You should have just under 1500 watts left over. Of course, if you used a battery operated radio, you could gain 25 additional watts of power.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Make sure all the linkages and springs are hooked up on the throttle system and where they pivit is clean. Try moving the linkage by hand gently to make sure there is no sticking and litely oil where the linkages connect. If everything is working properly your internal governor has to be replaced.

Yamaha yg4000d generator Surges in the economy mode!

Economy mode is not really meant for use when you are working, more like when you are idling and using only a very small load, it must be run in Normal mode when driving the Normal load. As the Engines Rev's are "Tied" to the "Draw" from the "Outlet". More draw, the higher the rev's need to be, but in economy mode,it is Governed, and cannot Rev up enough to supply full power.

High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.

Get a DMM that can measure frequency (Hz), then check that with no load and the idle control set to off the frequency is 61.5 Hz - If it isn't you have to troubleshoot why it isn't and correct it.
You should also check the idle control mechanism if there is one on the generator, with it on the generator should start up at regular speed, then slow to idle speed, then rev back up to regular speed when you draw current from the generator. To check it use the DMM to measure the speed at startup ( should be 61.5 Hz), when it idles down (about 37 Hz), when you're drawing power from any other outlet ( pretty close to 60 Hz). If the generator has idled down and you shut off the idle control it should rev back up immediately.

Problem with Compaq UPS T1000h

I had a problem like this one, check the voltage from the generator , if the output from the generator is to high (over 240 Volts european standard voltage), the voltage protection (VDR resistors ) will brake the fuse to protect your UPS.
and also check the frequency of the generator, it has to be very stabile around 50HZ (european standard frequency)
