If the sparkplug wires are old moisture will get in to the insulation which will cause that problem. You should change the sparkplug wires, plugs rotar and distributor cap.

Hi, Saisoku this happens to a lot of bikes and different brands it is usually caused by water getting into the fuel system and/or moisture getting to electronic components, wire connectors, wiring harness. This situation usually clears itself by letting the bike sit for a couple of days in the sun. For more information about your question please click on the blue links below. Will not start after raining.Takes two to three days of no rain to start again. Then van will run again till it rains again.

you don`t say but it sounds like the moisture from the rain is sitting on the plug wires causing them to short the voltage to ground and possibly moisture in the distributor cap.how long has it been since a tune-up was done to the van.

We ran ut of gas, then it ran for a couple days ut then it started to rain and rained for 3-4 days straight. my van wouldn't start.

If it is a minivan there is a connector under the floor on the drivers side behind drivers seat under van.(by front of sliding door) Could have water in it. Or your fuel pump could have gone bad.
If you have a rubber mallet I would try tapping on the middle of the fuel tank while someone is trying
to start it. Do you hear the fuel pump run for 3 second when the key is first turned on? If not hit the tank with the mallet. What van model and year and what engine is it?

1999 Chevy Astro van will not start after sitting day of rain

Have the resistance checked on your ignition wires! When it's wet, the wires break down or don't allow enough voltage to get through to the plugs. Therefore the spark is weak & the van won't start. You may have to change them. Good luck!

these vans where kind off know for haveing problems with there dist. check the dist cap for cracks, check the coil wire also. what has happened is that mosture is getting in some where and probley the cap is at fault. when s the last time the vech has had a decent tune/up cap rotor plugs wires . replace the cap and rotor and coil wire, should solve your problem . but i would recommend looking at the other tune /up parts good luck kdc744
