Thank you for using FixYa.

There used to be two versions of the light. One- the fitting came apart in two halves which gave you access to the fixing screw. Two- the base of the light has key hole type slots on the back. The head of the screw lines up with the large hole of the slot and you push to fix or in your case pull to unfix

Hope this has been of some help.

WILL i HARM the hardwood floor under my Area rug to be shampooed. No pad underneath

Simple answer: YES

Anytime you are sampooing anything the under surface will be exposed to the cleaner. Move throw rugs to a location safe for the cleaner. Kitchen floors are usually good for this or a concrete floor. Remember to let carpet dry completely before replacing it. It will be lighter when dry so easier to move. But as a glass on a wood side table leaving a ring a wet carpet can leave a shaped stain.

Fix the yellow flashing light on a numatic hoover ref hqz 250-2

What is wrong with the yellow flashing light? This is a bag full / low air flow indicator. If your bag is not full then you most likely have a blockage in the hose, wand or tool.

No suction when using hose attachments - motor runs and under cupboard vent works - just not able to use just the hose with attachments

does the vacuum turn on when hose plugged into wall outlet assuming your using central vac. if it does not turn on then the metal band in the hose end is possibly cracked.

Every time we try and re charge batteries up in these machines (we have 2) they constantly flash red - does this mean the battery life is at its end or is the problem with the charger?

it could be either or, if you have a multimeter,, check the charger for voltage, and also check the batteries, if the batteries are too low at the start of a charging cycle it will make the unit give you the flashing red lights, But my guess would be to make sure the charger itself is still supplying the required voltage and amps needed,

Nothing happens when the hose is connected/inserted into the wall - the main part with the motor and brush are working -brush is turning but there is no suction & no noise coming out of wall...

This will probably require a service technician. Various items could cause this.
Bad contacts on the hose. Bad contacts on the Inlet plate. Broken low voltage wire or bad connection, splice, contacts, etc...The different kits require different connections as the direct connect uses 110VAC to power the accessories and the 8ft. pigtail accessories are for all other Inlets. This could be a problem with the Vaccum unit internal low voltage component or other electrical components. A voltage meter could be used to check for voltage at the unit where the initial wires first connect to the source and tested at each Inlet as well to verify voltage is present and of proper continuity. Be advised 110VAC could cause injury or death, this should only be performed by a qualified professional.

Our emerson MW899SB just stopped working all of a sudden. The clock is ticking down, little cooking light still flashing, but there is no cooking power...any suggestions?

Yes, it's now junk unless it's still under warranty. The Magnetron has most likely gone out.

Central vac will not turn off

Base d on your description... you have a defective internal relay, value $25-30US . It sits under the lid beside the motor and has generally 4-6 low and hi voltage leads plugged into it. Sometimes this component and the transformer is replaced by a new circuit board.Tag all wires with # position remove and take to a vacuum pro shop. Original relay may look different from the new one.

Kenmore central Vac - where to connect low voltage wires?

Mosy central vacs have 2 spades close together that stick out on the side, usually where the circuit breaker and auto/manual switch is. This is where you plug the low voltage wires into.
