I have a Maytag side by side MSD2554Arw and the water dispenses constantly. I disconnected the water flow valve to stop it. What might be the cause and how do you take the contol panel off the freezer door?

SOURCE: Maytag Ice20 refrigerator

There's a very detailed guide explaining how to fix this yourself for about $5 in parts. Some basic experience with soldering is helpful.

My Maytag dealer did not offer to fix for free, so I resorted to doing it myself rather than spend $300-$400.

There's a good chance that the water filter needs replacement.

May be some other reasons. Here's page 12 of the manual, also look at page 21 for troubleshooting ideas.

The water from the dispenser is running and i can't stop it how do you turn of???

The cause of the problem you describe could be ether water inlet valve or the water lever dispenser switch.Locate the water valve at the back of the refrigerator, open the water and take off both plugs from the valve. If the water flow want stop replace the water valve. If it will, replace the water lever switch.

Hi,
It sounds like you have a water flow problem. I would inspect the unit for ice building up in or around the freezer fan motor. If the ice is forming in side the freezer, the trouble could the a restriction in the fill tube. But this does not affect the water dispenser. The noise you hear could be the water line moving when water flows through the line, or your water valve itself could be the problem, like the valve shutters when in use.
The valve is easy to check, its located behind the unit in the back left corner. Remove the screw holding the valve in place, while dispensing water hold the valve and see if the issue is only the valve. If the valve is the issue this could cause both problems you have. Part number 67005154

Water flow is slower than the normal. we check the saddle valve, lately we changed the water filter from that day on water flow is very slow.

In some models it creates an automatic by-pass when the filter is removed. If this is one of those models remove the filter and use the dispenser with it out. If you get good pressure now, it indicates a problem in the filter housing. If it's still slow it could be due to low supply water pressure or a defective valve. You can check the water at the valve inlet and outlet. First turn the inlet (main) water supply valve off. Now disconnect the water inlet line at the valve and place the end of it in a pitcher. Turn the water valve back on and check if there is a good solid water flow. If the water flow is good reconnect the water to the valve and now take the water line loose on the back side of the valve. Activate the water dispenser and check how the water flow is coming out of the valve. You will probably need another person to help you with this check. If the water seems slow, then the valve will need to be replaced.

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line at the bottom before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does, leave the door open till it thaws.

If it doesn't come out there disconnect it at the water inlet valve and see if it comes out there. The valve could be bad.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

Water not stopping coming out of the ice maker

The water inlet valve may be staying open. You can swap the wires on the dual water inlet valve and disconnect the water line at the valve which goes to the ice maker. When you try the water dispenser the water will come out there. When you stop the water dispenser, if the water at the valve doesn't stop, the valve isn't closing so you'll need to replace it. If it does stop after trying it several times then the problem is with the ice maker

Built in water dispenser drips/leaks (fridge model

It is very possible that the water control valve on the rear of your refrigerator needs replaced. It would also be a good idea to install a pre-filter before the water gets to the water control valve. I believe the side of the valve that controls the water dispenser is stuck open slightly allowing water to drip. You can test by disconnecting the wires to the dispenser side and see if the drip stops. When you press dispense water the dual water control valve opens completely on the rear for the water to flow. If the seal inside is defective it will leak. Here are a couple places to finds the Dual Water control Valve
