Question about Sewing Machines

Open Question

I have a singer cg-500/550,recently had maintenance for a timing issue (jan.),had never used button stitch option, when I did the whole bobbin case popped out. The manual makes it look simple, however the bobbin case holder is on a spring and I have to hold that at the same time as trying to fit the bobbin case back in.I'm in a jam and would like to be able to do it myself(although it's probably simple(?)

SOURCE: Bobbin case

If your machine is older than 18 months, it needs a free upgrade from your dealer. The plastic see through needle plate needs to be replaced by a newer version that will keep the bobbin down. Further more a bobbin case position finger needs to be installed.

SOURCE: lost maual on singer cg-550

Have a look at this website.
If they do not have the manual you want email them and they will help.
The looping problem is the bottom tension is to slack, on the same website look at the repair section and it explains how to adjust the bobbin tension.

SOURCE: Euro-Pro Shark Intelli-Sew 9110

you need a new bobbin case, only problem is finding the right one. I am currently wasting hours trying to find one for our 9110 intelli sew which has needle holes punched through it from where it jumps right out. I think lots of manufacturers know fine which parts fit the Euro-Pro but would like all of us to scrap them and go out and buy theirs!

SOURCE: Singer cg-590 floating bobbin keeps jumping out of it's holder.

I'm not completely familiar with the model, but even a floating bobbin holder as you described should have some sort of a hold down. There may see a small swinging arm on the bottom right side of the bobbin area that needs to be located over the bobbin case to hold it in place. Let me know if this doesn't work.

Hmm, I'm wondering if it has been cleaned and oiled recently. Older mechanicals require frequent TLC. Consult your owner's manual for cleaning and maintenance instructions:

Is your sewing machine mechanical (ie, not computerized)??? CAUTION--if your machine is computerized, do NOT proceed with the following suggestions.

If it is mechanical, have you cleaned and oiled your machine recently? Most mechanical sewing machine failures are because they have not been adequately and routinely oiled, the old oil has solidified and frozen the mechanics. I recommend Bernina oil or liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube (or similar good quality sewing machine oil) for mechanical machines--do NOT use 3-in-1, cooking oil, WD-40, or the sewing machine oil from your grandmother's sewing basket. (I am not associated with any Bernina dealer.)

If it is in fact frozen, pick up a bottle of liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil at the hardware store. Oil one or two drops in every oil hole (see your manual) and also every place where metal rubs on metal. But DO NOT oil any plastic gears, rubber, or belts. If it is still stiff or frozen, direct a hot handheld hair dryer into the top and bottom mechanism of your machine. See if that loosens it up. You may have to repeat.

Once your machine is working again, place a drop or two of good sewing machine oil as directed above. Be sure to use a small brush to clean the lint and dirt out of your machine, especially around the feed dogs and bobbin area. (Caution: Compressed air will sometimes force the dirt and lint into areas that cannot be cleaned.) And continue to use good quality sewing machine oil to keep it running. Recommendation: every time you change a bobbin, after 8 hours of sewing, or every six months if it is not in regular use.

I have a singer CG 590C. It didn't come with manual. I'm just learning to sew. My bobbin was hung up with thread when I pulled on it I pull the whole bobbin casing out. How do I get it back in? Help

First thing, you should probably get a manual for your machine.
Singer CG 590 Commercial Grade Manual

How to thread Singer CG 590

This machine is listed as a commercial grade professional sewing machine, so you are going to have some additional learning curve if you are just beginning to sew.

What should the tension be on for this machine?

Most of the time if the bobbin thread is coming through on top it means that the bobbin thread is too loose and/or the top thread is too tight and is pulling the thread too much. check and make sure that there isn't anything in the top tensioner that could be increasing the tension like lint. Good luck.

After sewing about a 2 inch straight stitch, the thread "bunches" in the bobbin case. Where can I buy a new bobbin case? It looks like the bobbin case has a piece broken off the edge and it is...

Take a look on eBay. Also, check out SewVacUSA. They do sell on eBay, too. Search by your machine model. I recently bought a bobbin case through them for my Singer Futura and received it within a week.

There is a screw on the bobbin case which you turn clockwise to tighten but on a quarter of a turn at a time then test sew, make sure the bobbin turns antil clockwise in the bobbin case.

How do I use the button hole foot on the Bernina 807 minimatic?

There isn't an automatic button hole on this machine. You can do it manually. Thread the bobbin thread as usual, but put it through the little hole on the hook in the bobbin case. Set the stitch length between 0 and 1, like a nice satin stich. Set the needle position to the far left and the stitch width to 2. Sew down the left side. Center the needle, set the width to 4 and lower the feed dogs, stitch about 6 stitches across the bottom. Then reverse the direction, set the needle to the right, stitch width to 2 and go back up the right side. Lower the feed dogs again, set a wide stitch and finish the top.

Another good option is to buy a universal presser foot shank from Bernina and then attach an old cam type buttonhole attachment from Singer. They make beautiful buttonholes and you can even do a keyhole button hole.

Singer 301A stitch jam

your machine threads from right to left. the needle flat spot faces left. big loopy things means that the upper part of the machine is not threaded properly. as far as the needle hitting the bobbin case, it sounds as if someone removed the hook (part that holds the case) and put it back on 180 degrees off.
