Question about Welding Tools
An arc welder is a very simple transformer, Inside it you will find there are two sets of windings, a lighter one and a very heavy one, the lighter one is the primary which works off your home mains and the heavy winding is the secondary that supplies your welding current. The secondary winding has several taps for different currents - these go to the connection for the 'torch' the end of the winding is the ground tap and would usually appear to come from the bottom or the beginning of the secondary coil.
