This a link to get an owners manual from Dell for your system, if you don't already have one. There should be a toubleshooting section as well as sugesstions on how to get out of modes. Ifyou need help with this, let me knowin "add comment' at end of solution.

Thank you for your response. I have read the troubleshooting section of the manual. In the section that talks about the diagnostic lights on the back of the computer it gives different light configurations for different problems. The light configuration that I have is not covered in the manual. LED A flashes green, yellow, green, yellow constantly. LED B Is yellow. LED C is green and LED D is green. All four lights blink on and off. Any help?

I glanced at what your talking about whnI pulledup the manual but, I'l have to look again In my manual (530) there was a trouble shoting section and start up's.

First, for giggles, i would shut down computer, unplug(30 secs) , plug back in, then, restart. If nothing happens then, I would try the 'memory test". Memory or "ram" , or memory sticks as they are called clip into your moherboard. If you don't know what or where they go, they are in the manual. Hopefully you have more than 1 stick. You pul all out and replace one, then restart, If it works it's probably one of the other sticks which you check the same way.

Your computer is in sleep mode, a low power mode that conserves power by turning off the screen and hard drive.

Push the power button on the system and the computer will resume.

Is this light on the computer, or on the monitor?

I suspect that it happens when you try to watch a movie or listen to music - something that doesn't involve typing on the keyboard or using the mouse? If so, then your computer goes to suspend mode. You have to open the Control Panel, Power settings, and select an "Always on" power scheme, and additionally change the "monitor off" option to Never. Then click "Apply", close the window and you should be fine.

Refresh Rate, the reason why it works in safe mode and not normal mode is because in safe mode the system only loads the most basic and reliable drivers and sets the screen resolution and rate to their default values. In safe mode right-click on the desktop and go to properties, go over to the tab Settings and click Advanced. You should see another tab that says Monitor, there you can change your Hz, change it to something like 60hz to be on the safe side.

Monitor rejects computer

I'm just guessing, but it could be that the resolution you are using on your MS-DOS monitor is not compliant with the new monitor you are trying to use. Check the supported resolutions of the monitor that you would like to use, and then make sure you set that resolution before switching monitors.

Memory detected/Memory failure on Dell Dimension PC

So basically the computer does not start. Because I am not sure that is what you are saying.

I think from my understanding it is an issue with vista rather than with the computer. Somehow the new driver has put your computer in sleep mode. The computer of friend of mine starts by itself.

Another I want to say that the memory cards are fragile they can go bad. The way you touch them it is important.
