I had the same problem, basically error -1 is telling you that you need to do soething before you try and restore it. Have you tried installing the latest iTunes and then shutting down your computer, then trying to restore it again?
Simple get on a pc go to apple.com download iTunes the latest version... Open the app on your pc... Connect your USB cable and to your iPhone ... iTunes will detect it then it'll ask if you want to upgrade to firmware 3.0 then upgrade ..
if it still gives you problems then you have a hardware issue, apple won't touch a jailbroken iphone so hopfully you have the apple care protection. Restore it to factory settings and try to take it in for service.
its not a hardware problem brothe as i am also facing same problem...actually it all happen with jailbreaked iphone...ad i'hv checked its deep root directory there an application called "lockdown" is the main cause of that...nd still there is no crack of that..... two days back i unlocked my iphone 2g it was working properly before that i was facing the same issue as you are facing....but now again it went to the same problem.... i hav a temp solution of that... use blackra1n u can find it from blackra1n.com nd for few seconds slide to unlock will work or u can use it by connecting it with ur itunes ...connect usb wire nd slide it again nd again...u can unlock it..bue its just temp

remove older verion of itune, restart computer, install itune 7.5, (filehippo.com) reboot, restore your phone with 1.1.4 firmware, if there are no error message, you are good to go the next step of ziphone 3.0 and it should work.
