You must use the switch on the fan itself.

I have the same problem and I notice that the fan goes in reverse when I turn off and back on. I have not found the solution yet but I would say that the remote has factory defects.

How do i change the direction of the rotation of the blades on a model 52-DA? I understand it's done through the remote control but I don't have the instructions for the remote.

There may be a switch on the side of the wiring housing to effect reverse rotation. If the remote does not have a fan reversal button, it can't reverse rotation.

If there isn't a reverse button on the remote then you have to do it manually on the fan.

I have this fan with the remote. The top right-hand switch on the remote says fwd/rev and that does, in fact, reverse the direction of the blades. The manual says to make sure the fan is still moving when you press this switch or it won't reverse direction.
