What you probably have is either a bad connection to the starter, or switch, or you have a faulty starter, or battery. I would start by checking the wires. Take them loose and reconnect them. If that is to no avail, then you will want to have the battery and starter tested.

Check the safety micro switch located under the blade brake mechanism. You should see 2 wires connected directly to the switch, if this switch has failed your mower will not crank with the key but otherwise will start with the pull cord.
