Question about Televison & Video
I would suspect the backlight inverter is faulty:
I would try to look on the power supply first for popped capacitors that supply the 24v rail for the backlight inverter.
Having sound is a positive when it comes to repair. This means that only your screen is not lighting.
If you repair the 24v line and check the 5v feed also going to the BN_on (on) the backlight inverter and you still have no picture...you will need a new inverter.
If you have menus then you may have also shorted your mainboard (AKA tuner board)
