I suggest you bring it a tecnician to open the laptop.. It may save you money rather than buying a new set of keypads,, Maybe there is just something in ther that blocked the key from working.. If possible, watch while your laptop is being opened. if it is not a reputated technicial, he might replace some parts there.. just be careful

Glad to help YOU!

Nope, you don't have to REPLACE the ENTIRE KEYBOARD!
All you have to do is to take the keyboard out and to clean the CONNECTOR of that key (and to blow a little the rest of the keyboard, just to clean it up entirely...). WARNING!!! Take care of the cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard; detach the WHITE PLUG slowly - making sure you ill not break it! Otherwise your keyboard will become useless...!

GOOD LUCK!

Number lock key

1. Please tap the NumLock key many times and see if it responds to the tap,

2. Probably your keyboard is in "Alt Fn" mode, so please try to hold the Fn key and tap the Fn key (I prefer to tap the left arrow and right arrow) and see if the keyboard is working properly.

3. Probably your keyboard is failed. It happens, even there is no spill accident. In this case, you need to replace the entire keyboard.

Yamaha keys g and c# don't work

You didn't describe your problem with enough details. If the keys operate mechanically, then the problem might be with the integrated switch assembly. You will need to disassemble the entire case enclosure to check the key assemblies. The keys are assembled into sets. You can remove the set with the bad switches and replace the entire group. In some Yamaha models you can replace individual switches ( entire key mechanism). You can also test the switches using a multimeter - simple continuity test.
If your keys are inoperable mechanically, ( won't move or move partially) you will have to disassemble the entire unit to identfy the problem. It may be a simple alignment adjustment or a broken pivot joint. You won't know for sure without removing the internals by taking it apart.
Yamaha has excellent service reps (factory trained) either in repair depots or available for house calls. Go to their web site enter your zip code to find the nearest rep. If you are not comfortable taking the keyboard apart, that is the best solution.

Left shift key not working on laptop, pavilion g6

This is possibly a hardware problem, if you know how to disassemble the keyboard module you can check for broken lines, usually it is much easier to replace entire keyboard than repairing one key.
your alternative would be using ON-Screen keyboard program from windows; attaching a mini-wireless keyboard to your laptop, or be used to using the right-shift key.

L had formatted my dell insporon and now fn key is not working....is there any driver for that tooo???

Examine your keyboard to ensure your "Number Lock" key is not activated.

This activation is indicated by the key being lit up.

If the key is activated, press it to deactivate the lock.

The number lock key will deactivate an entire segment of your keyboard

Start, click Run, and type regedit to open the Windows registry editor.

In the registry, open the below folders.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
Control Panel\
Keyboard\

Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2. Below is the explanation of each of these values.

0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.
1 = Disable Num Lock.
2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.

hope this helps

ACER ASPIRE laptop PgUbp key came off.

Unless I'm missing something, just put the key back where it belongs. Push down hard, and it'll snap back into its place. If this doesn't work, check the underside of the key. If you see broken plastic, you'll probably have to find a new key. Acer laptops seem to have a problem with keys coming out and breaking (just look at the number of times this question has been asked!)

hope this helps

How to replace a key that popped off

Ichand1958 is right, if its broken the no matter what you do it will not go on, but if he thinks installing a key is difficult, how you think the average user will be able to take apart the entire laptop to install a keyboard?? I think you should first try just fixing the key, often the new key will just snap right on. Have a look at http://www.individualkeys.com/ACER_KEYS/ and if that does not help, THEN take the laptop to a shop and have them install the ENTIRE keyboard.
