Question about Metrik Car Audio & Video

Open Question

Hello... I was just given a METRIK MCD-498 Stereo for my 94 Cadillac Deville because the one that I have in there now does not work. I have been told that I can connect the METRIK MCD-498 to my car somehow and just put the stereo under my seat because it is too much trouble to rip out the old stereo that came with my car and would cosmetically look really bad. When I was given this used stereo it didn't come with any cables or anything. Can you please tell me how I do this and what cables i need and where I hook them up at??? Also is there a website or somewhere that I can go to get a owners manual for this product?

SOURCE: Connecting remote cable to other port from the car stereo

You can tap the amplifier's remote wire into the accessory power lead at the back of the head unit. On most head units this is a red wire. Doing this will make your amplifier turn on and off with the key switch, rather than the deck power.

SOURCE: Car stereo installation

I had this problem as well. On my harness was a wire for connecting the factory amp. You have to connect the Automatic Antenna wire to the Factory Amp Turn On wire. Should be a blue wire to a blue wire with a white stripe.

I’m attaching a wiring diagram which hopefully isreadable. I’ll also list the “where to”instructions for all of the other wires. It’simportant that several wiring steps be done in a particular order.

About the Memory Wire:

The memory wire is Yellow and should be connected to the +12 V power terminal (which isenergized at all times). First besure to connect the black ground (earth) lead to a metal surface of the car.

Important…
>>Before making connections, turn the stereo unit and carignition off to avoid short circuits.
>>Connect the yellow and red power input leads onlyafter all other leads have been connected.
>>The power antenna (aerial) control lead (blue)supplies +12 V DC when you turn on the tuner.

Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have more questions or would like me to email you acopy of the owner’s manual.

Thanks, and take care.

Gail :-)

My 94 Cadillac DeVille has a coolant problem, what part(s) do I need and on average what would be the cost of part(s) and labor?

If you have a Northstar Engine, sorry to tell you buddy... Either HeadGasket blown, or pulled Headbolts.... Now cadillac repairs these engines for around 3000$ atleast in my area.... You can have a Local mechanic do it, but the headbolts must be Time-Serted http://www.timesert.com/html/gm.html
