Keep in mind that the level of water depends on the relative humidity in your air. You may need to have the unit checked to see that the mechanical portion is working.

This devices work by cooling a coil below the dew point temperature of the ambient air. When this happens frost or water will form on the coil. Check your owners manual to see what type of dehumidifier you have to see what is the minimum operating temperature for you unit.

How do you clean the air filter?

The cleaning of Dehumidifier Air Filter is very simple, Air Filters are washable. Just remove the backside part of the device and take out the air filter. Wash it with water and fix it.

My dehumidifier as stopped extracting water and has started icing up

There are 4 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you have described.

1. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

2. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

3. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

4. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The filter is getting ice on it when I turn it on.

If you haven't already, clean the filter after it has thawed. In addition, the coils behind the filter may need cleaning.

Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Remove the filter and the upper half of the front of the cabinet. Clean the cools with warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse with a damp sponge, dry the coils and apply a light coating of WD40. Reassemble the cabinet, plug the unit in, turn it back ON and take it for a test drive. Be sure to clean the filter at least once every 2 weeks.

My dehumidifier runs but does not take water out of the air why?

There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1& 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.

of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Kenmore dehumidifier 54701 runs but very little water accumulates in tank. It is 3 years old. It used to take out at least a tank of water every day.

There are 5 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have a Manually
Controlled unit (no LED screen) turn the humidity extraction knob to Maximum.

I am getting a 01n code on display..is this an easy fix?

Yes, it's easy to fix. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Remove the air intake filter and clean it. You can vacuum it or wash it. If you wash it, use warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse and allow it to thoroughly dry before reinstalling it. DO NOT operate the dehumidifier without the filter installed.

The above should take care of the O1N Error Code.

Display lights up E 1 nothing else happens. What does the E 1 mean? Unit is 4-5 years old.

On models a lttle later than yours E1, indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. Probably, the same thing as yours. Before doing so, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. If you wash the filter use warm water and dish washing liquid, Rinse thoroughly and allow to completely before reinstalling. DO NOT operate the unit without the air filter in place.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

How to replace or clean the filters also im trying to find a manual for this humidifier.

To remove and clean the filter: Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Remove the water bucket and set it aside. Just under the front of the dehumidifier where you removed the bucket you will see a plastic handle. Pull down on it gently and filter will come out. Wash it with warm water and dry thoroughly, before reinstalling it in the dehumidifier. It is recommended that you clean the filter a minimum of once every 2 weeks.

As far as an Owners Manual is concerned. The following link will take you to it and you can download and print it for future reference.

Hope this helped you. Please be kind enough to let me know. Thanks.

Should I clean or replace the air filter?

You can wash the filter with water, no problem. However, I would recommend replacing the filter every 3 to 4 months depending on how much you use the dehumidifier. The exposure to constant moisture will cause the filter to grow mold over time.
