Question about Atari Computers & Internet

1 Answer

RE: Publisher Pro I have some Windows XP publisher files that I need to access. I now have the 2011 version of Windows for my Mac which does not include Publisher. You have an item called Mac Publisher Pro by Atari. It says it works with the following platforms: Windows NT / 98 / 2000 / Me / 95, Mac, Linux, Unix. I need to know if I can use this software to open my XP files. The return policy says that only unopened software can be returned. I won't know if I can use it if I don't load it onto my Mac. Thank you for any help you can provide. Barb Cox

If win xp is not listed in the supporting platforms , then it will not work
don't open it but return it for a system that is supported

Unable to use Micrografx Picture Publisher 10.0 with Win 7

Make sure that Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 pro installs into the X66 Program files folder.By default it will always install into the 64 bit program file if you have a 64bit installed.
If you have the 32 bit Windows 7 installed then right click with your mouse on the program before opening it up and select compatibility mode.Select XP SP3 compatibility mode. This works fine on my Windows 7 32bit. Use the first paragraph method if you have the 64bit Windows 7.

No Microsoft office publisher in my pc

Hello:
Your question only indicated that you had Windows XP Pro, but not which Microsoft Office product you have. 'Microsoft Office Publisher is part of the Microsoft Office suite. You can either purchase Publisher by itself, or the entire suite.
You can download a trial and/or buy the suite on this page: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/get-microsoft-publisher-FX102159668.aspx

Depending on your version of Win7 and your computer specs, you could try to run the software in the XP mode (Pro or Ultimate). This is a virtual machine and needs dedicated memory and does not directly share files or peripherals with the real machine. It has worked well on our machines for several older programs (Win2K and XP versions) - these were 32 bit programs and ran on a 64 bit Win7 Pro machine.

Running the program in the compatibility mode might work as well (right click, choose properties and then the compatibility tab).

I hope this helps.

This makes no sense.

If you updated Publisher, it should read files created with the "current" version of Publisher *AND* it should read files created with the "previous" version of Publisher.

Can locate publisher

According to the product specs., Office Pro 2007 did not come with Publisher: Read:
In addition to the core Office XP programs - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint - Office XP Professional includes Microsoft Access 2002, the Office XP database solution that helps users store, access, and analyze their data.
You have to purchase Publisher.
But good news, You can download OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org. It is free and comes with a Publisher compatible program. OpenOffice.org boasts two mid-level layout programs -- Draw and Writer -- each of which is far more versatile than its name suggests. You may have to go through the tutorial but it Free. and works well in windows.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
