Can not tune the ringer on

You should be able to change the ringer settings in two ways when the handset is not in use. 1) Press and hold the Volume up/Down arrows on the handset. The handset should show the current ringer setting (High, Low, Ringer Off). Press Select. The current setting should flash and you will hear the current volume (if the ringer is on). Use the up/down arrows to select your desired setting; the phone should give a ring. Then press Select to confirm. Again the phone should ring.
2) Press Prog. Use the up/down arrows to select Ringer Volume. Then press Select and use the up/down arrows to chose a new volume. Press Select to confirm.

If your phone still does not ring, there are items to check.
Try a new telephone line cord and make sure that the base is plugged into a working outlet. Move closer to the base.
Make sure that you are away from other electronics that could interfere. Check that you do not have too many devices plugged into your phone line. Each one should have an REN (ring equivalence number). The total REN for all devices should be 5 or less; disconnect the other extensions/devices and test again.
Make sure that the phone is providing a dial tone and a test phone will ring when dialed. (I like to use an old corded phone for testing.) If a test phone won't ring, you have a wiring problem. See additional trouble-shooting information below.
Remove the battery in the handset and then reconnect it. Wait for the handset to synch with the base and try again.
If you have a DSL filter, try replacing it.
The manual for the CS5121 is available from V-Tech here: http://www.vtechphones.com/vtechphones/index.cfm/product-detail/?event=ehCatalog.productDetail&ProductID=55#documents .

Phone line testing:
Using a test phone with a new line cord, check for dial tone and ring at the first jack. If your test phone rings, then the problem is the handset. Move to another jack on the line and test again. If you get a ring here, the first jack or the wiring to the jack has a problem. If there is no ring, find where your service comes in. Open the box and check the type of connection. If you have a relatively new phone service, you'll find an RJ-11 jack. Plug in your test phone and check for dial tone and ring. If it doesn't work or there is no RJ-11 jack, contact your service provider. They can test the line and will repair any outside problems for free. If the problem is inside, you will need to look at all the exposed wiring for damage. If only the one jack is bad, open it up and check that the wires are properly connected. There are two types of jacks: one secures the conductors with screws, the other is a keystone. The keystone jacks require a punch down tool to press in the conductors. This punchdown tool is available from many home improvement stores in the wiring section. This site has a picture of how the conductors should be connected: http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx .

If the handset is bad, you can try a replacement handset, if available. If the phone is under warranty, contact V-tech. Otherwise decide if it is worth servicing, these phones were not meant to be user serviced.

I hope this helps.

Norstar meridian 7208 won't ring.

Does it ring when you move it to a known ringing port? Is it programmed to ring (Terminals & Sets) Appear and Ring? Do you have Automatic Set Relocation turned on so the extension number stays with the phone?

There are a lot of features to check for ringing, including the volume of the set.

Answering machine Model 25865. Is there any way to turn the answering machine "on" remotely. Example: while away, electrical storm causes machine to turn off. Is there any way to remotely...

The manual for this phone doesn't say you can turn the answering machine on remotely, but every one I've ever seen can do so. Most of them say call your number and let the phone ring...and ring...and ring, and eventually the answering machine will turn on. Ten rings is what I've seen most often. I guess the manufacturers figure most callers will hang up fairly soon if the machine doesn't answer, so they pick a large number. Try it on your phone; worst that can happen is it won't work.

My graphgear 1000 won't feed lead when I try to reload. been working fine. suddenly cannot load lead. any idea? also why isn't your customer service phone number up to date?

Exactly the same thing happened to me (0.5mm GG 1000). I carefully unscrewed the barrel (just above the lead indicator), then unscrewed the interior cartridge (it's a sort of beige colour) just above the tip of the pen. There was a little ring that I guess expand to feed the lead. There was a tiny piece of lead stuck in this ring - I moved it out with the tip of a needle and the pencil worked again.

Basically - might be worth unscrewing before you buy a new one.

I want another station to ring in addition to the operator's. It will ring at one station, but I would rather have it ring at another. It was ringing at the station I want, but doesn't now. I did move the...

Moving the phones shouldnt have affected the ringing. Phones are programmed on the ports which usually doesnt follow the phones if moving them. You will how ever have to program the ringing again on your system. To do this you will need the model number of your system StrataVI6e, DKT 40, DKT424,CTX, ETC... I have a site below with manuals on all Toshiba systems. However if you do know your system you can message me back and i will setup the steps to program your particular system.

I need to change which phone rings.

I guess this is alittle late... but for your knowledge:

First you need to know the extension of the phone that you want to change. Feature 0 at the phone you want to change and hit the intercom key to ensure that we are programming the right phone.

To get into programming press:
-> FEATURE 2 6 6 3 4 4
-> Password: 2 6 6 3 4 4
Now you will have to look at your LCD for 3 arrows
<- Heading..Enter->
<- Back .......Next->

-> you will now see TERMINALS&SETS and press Enter (the top right arrow key) now put in the extn that you want to change.
-> you should now see the extension number of the set and the name that is associated with it, press Enter (the top right arrow key) again
-> now you will see LINE ACCESS and press Enter (the top right arrow) again then LINE ASSIGNMENT and hit Enter again
-> then you will see Show line:____ and input 001
-> it will show something like L001: Unassigned now press CHANGE till it says Appear&Ring
-> keep putting in all the lines that you want to ring at your desk
till all the lines are found (the numbering scheme counts out funny for Norstar it goes: line 001,002,003,004,025,026,027,028)
-> after you find all the Lines, you now hit RLS to back out of programming.

Voila, your phone will now ring. To change back, do all the same steps, but input Unassigned instead of Appear&Ring.

Ringer

You must go into programming to set this phone to ring.

The first thing that you have to know is , the group that all of your calls ring to. This is the 5xx # that shows on the display when the call is ringing in . (i.e. call for 500) 500 is the default ring group.

to enter programming, go to any display phone, without picking up the handset.

press transfer
dial 800
Passcode = 4321
press "1" (enable)
press speaker
dial 600
use the volume arrow key and arrow up until you get to
Members .
Press the right softkey under the display just to the left of the scroll btn.
the curser will move over under the member # (i.e. 01)
use the arrow up key to go to a member # that say NONE to the right of it.
press the right softkey again and the curser will move over and then dial the ext # that you want to ring and press the right softkey again.
press transfer to exit programming
the phone should ring , if you find that the ext is already in the ring group, then there must be a btn on the phone that you can press to put it in/out of the group.
