Question about Fisher and Paykel Refrigerators

Open Question

Hi! I am having Fisher & Payel E450 fridge. We had the main motherboard replaced 6 months ago and all has been fine until now! We noticed earlier in the week that it was frosted up on one side, so we turned it off and defrosted it. Once turned back on, since then whenever we open the door it beeps twice. The fridge seems to be working fine, cooling ok, etc. Any ideas what might be wrong?

SOURCE: Model E372b Fisher & Pykel - Beeps with Fridge Door closed periodically-Higest shelves warm lower down freezes things

First I would like to say thanks for all the information on the Fisher-Paykel active smart fridge freezer problems. This was a lot more useful than their customer support help line… After a week of hanging on for ten minutes without any answer I had a look on the net and found your site with descriptions of similar problems so I decided to investigate further
I have a Fisher Paykel fridge freezer (model 402B in the UK) about three years old. Although it didn’t seem to be as cold as normal, the first sign of a serious problem was when it started making a rattling or knocking noise from the freezer compartment. Looking inside it was obviously iced up solid and the noise was probably the fan catching the ice. So first thing I decided to try was a days de icing after which everything seemed ok except the green indicator light was now flashing about once every second.
Two weeks later it was badly iced up again so the problem was still there. At first I suspected the fans (which I could never see actually working). I disconnected one and tried it with a 6v torch battery and it spun ok. It was then I realised what was happening - the fans cut out whenever the door is opened so they are always stopped if you look inside.
A closer look at the aluminium heat exchanger(behind the plastic panel at the back of the freezer section) showed there was some kind of heater element clipped along the bottom with feed wires at either side. Obviousely part of the automatic de icing systems. It’s a bit tricky but there an electrical connector plug at the top and disconnecting this enables you to unclip the element and remove it (except that in this case one wire had been trapped at the wrong side of the coolant pipes when they had been fitted so it had to be snipped to get it out). Once out a circuit test showed there was no circuit through the element. So cutting into the two shrouded connections at each end of the element revealed some little components inside which I now know are “Thermal fuses”. One of these had “Blown”. There was a number on the side: - DF 72S which Google revealed is a thermal fuse set at 72 degrees. Although these are listed as spares in all sorts of places non was convenient to the UK. So I found a similar component at Maplins Electronics (R14) set at 92 degrees for just 69p! The reasoning being that the other thermal DF 72S fuse was still ok and the slightly higher use temp at the other end would still blow before anything melted!
By the way you cannot solder these things in so its best to use miniature screwed “block” connectors plus a good covering with insulation tape.
After putting it all back together its now been working for a month and no ice build up… The green light did still flash for a while but went out once the temperature dropped too normal freezing level.

Total cost of replacement parts was under £1 but it took a bit of time find the problem.

Can you hear the compressor running? Is the fan inside the freezer running? It could be that a wire connection has come loose during the move. Was the fridge laid on it's side during the move? If so you probably have compressor oil restricting the refrigerant system. If compressor and fan are running you will probably need a qualified refrigeration tech to check it out.

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

SOURCE: loud creaking/shifting noise from fisher

Ice melting on the evaporator during defrost cycle. Refrigerant running through the system can also make noises like a gurgling or swooshing noise.

Have they cleaned the drain tube that runs down the back of the fridge? If not and the tube is clogged water will back up and give you the problem that you are having. The only other thing that I can think of, is that the defrost cycle may not be set to a minimum amount of time to where this can be increased to allow the freezer not to let the ice build up.

Hi My fisher payel fridge with the under freezer has a built in ice maker and it has stopped working. What do I need to do to fix it?

Tell me more, why did it suddenly stop? What did you change? Did you turn off electric? Get anything water wise that is new? Did you lower the water pressure coming into your home? Where do you live - house, apartment?

I can't say why it quit, unless you left it running on "make a lot of ice" (some fridges have this option), were out of town and had some electrical issues, went through a big storm or changed the water coming into the fridge. These are the obvious reasons why you'd have an issue.

A little more detail, Please?

My Fisher & Payel smart load dryer is not

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which ismounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If thats fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do revert for further assistance.

Thanks

LG Wash WM2487H*MA- how to turn the tub clean feature on?

I have had this problem since I bought my washer. Some days the tub clean cycle will work....most days it won't. They have replaced the main board twice and it's still broken. I've had nothing but bad luck with LG appliances. Also bought a lemon fridge that took 4 repairman visits to fix. I will not buy another LG anything!!
