Question about Sony PlayStation® 3 (60 GB) Console
Posted by Anonymous on
Are you seeing any flashing red/yellow lights?
If so this is the red light error and you will find that is why the system will not turn on.
Why Does It Happen?
The GPU and the CPU are the 2 main chips in the system and they deal with all of the number crunching however they can get very hot and if they lose connection the system will either freeze up or turn off and give you the red flashing light.
How To Fix?
The key is stopping the heat build up and you can either send it in and they will fix it for you.
Bear in mind that for the PS3 red flashing light error you will be waiting for about 4 weeks and it will also cost you $150 for the repair bill!
Other Ways To Fix?
You can also use a good PS3 Repair Guide to fix it and this will show you how to stop the heat build up with a few household items.
Just make sure that you get a good guide there are some good ones out there!

Youur machine needs to be RE-FLOWED, the instructions for this can be found on the NET,. I used (Mic-b.com). Go through faults and suhested repairs and you will find the complete walkthrough for repairing your machine. I did it and it only took me an hour. Since then i have fixed many machines all diplaying different issues, from The Yellow Light of Death (YLoD) to flashing red lights to no display. The only cost involved is buying some ARCTIC SILVER 3, @ Radio Shack $10. Cheap enough if you ask me. Hope this helps...

Tips for a great answer:
Nov 15, 2012 | Sony PS3 PlayStation 3 Game Console 40gb
Power off the unit using the toggle
switch on the back. Hold down the 'eject' button and turn the toggle
switch back from off to on. This will run a fan test and should eject
your disc. Remember, this will only work on the 20, 40g models. Not
the backwards compatible units with the 4 usb port holes and the
memory card slots.
