If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Blueish triangle at the bottom center of picture

It sounds like you have a Optical Block Problem.
These sets have have a lot of problems with this type of symptom. Due to the cost of the part, around $800.00, I would contact Sony at 1800-222-SONY and see if they would be willing to help with the repair cost. I know they have help other folks in the past but I do not know if they will continue doing it now.
I hope this helps,

I have a Zenith 65 in. TV model #R65W28 serial #271-33220211. The words are blurry and there is a green outline on images in the picture even if i reduce color to black and white. what can i do to fix it?...

It sounds like the convergence drive circuit has gone bad. When that circuit goes the red, blue and green don't line up properly. Have a repair shop check it out. While they are in there have the shop clean the lenses and mirror.

Convergence Problem

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Bad Picture Blueish picture

If the red gun stops working it could make the picture very blue-greenish. This could be caused by a number of problems, including a coolant leak, but it's most likely a bad electrical connection somewhere in the set.

Best left to a professional repair guy, frankly.

Picture has horizontal lines that move to middle of screen........

Just got this fixed. The problem is the 21 (yes, 21) main capacitors. It'll only get worse if they aren't replaced. The whole screen'll start jumping, multi-hour "warm up" times until you get a clear picture, maybe not even then... it isn't pretty. Just nip it in the bud now, and more power to you if you tackle it yourself. A good repair shop ought to be able to do this for under $400 if you can't.

Well you've come to the right place - - even though this is one you probably can't fix yourself this "repairman" is here to tell you that you're not screwed either... From what you've explained it sounds like the SMPS (switch mode power supply) or something in the B+ volatges are at fault. The fact that the TV does power means that your lower voltages are still working and the x-ray protection circuit is probably keeping the unit from doing any critical damage to itself. So, my best professional advice is, have an expert look at it.. As a couple of tips: (1) Find a good reputable shop. Call NESDA and ask for phone numbers to some or their member shops in your area. (2) Take the unit to the shop yourself. Have a buddy help you load it in the back of a truck, strap it down, and take it in.. Much of the cost will be in transporting. (3) Have it estimated before any repairs and know ahead of time what the shop charges to estimate the job. (4) Ask to have the technician save all the old parts and compare those parts later with what work is outlines on the final invoice. The kind of repair you have there is something I do every day, sometimes two and three times a day - - to TV's that are far less worthy. Hope this helps! Bill

Double image?

Your convegance amplifiers have failed there are two of them they must both be replaced. there may also be some resistors in the convergance amp circuit that have opened. average cost of this repair is $120.00 parts and $170.00-$300.00 labor. all depends on the tech you get.
