Question about Philips Philishave HQ7780 Electric Shaver

Open Question

Hi I have a Philips shaver (Philishave 990) can charge the batteries when it runs on AC power, not battery. Next time the power is gone and the battery re-charging it shows 2 on the display, then start it on the mains. Is it the battery is defective? Can it be replaced? Type? How can it be purchased.

SOURCE: Electric Shaver will not charge

There are 4 small philips head screws deeply recessed on the rear of the razor. Unscrew these and the back half of the case just lifts off. Unsolder the battery leads and fit new battery pack.

SOURCE: philips shaver not charging

The batteries are soldered to the circuit board with solder tabs. These are not standard chargeable batteries that can be bought at the corner hardware store. The are Lithium Oxide based batteries with solder tabs. These should be replaced by an experienced tech. The replacement batteries must be to spec of the original ones. There is the current rating and voltage rating of the batteries to matched.

Because these chargeable batteries can put out a strong amount of current, if they are not installed properly, there can be safety issues.

Call Philips tech support to be advised about where you can take the shaver to have the batteries changed.

If you're not in the US, refer to http://www.philips.com/ where there is a listing of countries, and you should be able to select "Contact and Support" option from the main page.

Model 5812 has not been made since about 2008. You may have just bought it 'new' but it is not fresh. The battery is probably bad.

Charged for approx. 6 hours then wouldn't work

I copied this from the Philips website... this took me FOREVER to find! Their site isn't the easiest to find products on...

"Insert the small plug into the shaver and put the powerplug in the wall socket. When you charge the appliance for the first time or after a long period of disuse, let the shaver charge for at least 16 hours. Remove the powerplug from the socket and the small plug from the shaver as soon as the batteries have been fully charged. Ignore the charge indicator when you charge the batteries for the first time. The batteries are completely new and need to be charged longer than the time indicated by the charge indicator to ensure that the back-up capacity is fully charged as well."

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate my help! I would greatly appreciate it!

Have a Braun series 8000 shaver battery not charging

Well if it's not charging at all and you are not getting any lights, then you could have one of two issues. Either you have a bad power cord or PCB board. If it's just not holding a charge then you can replace the Batteries.

Philishave HQ7780 not charging: dead, no leds

The connectors that attach the power cord in the solution housing have "rotted away". Look carefully at the pins and you'll notice they are gone or really corroded. Philishave will replace the whole thing shaver and all if you give them a call.
