If you haven't alread, try connecting your tv with the standard RCA connectors, (for the audio) you may have to also connect the yellow video cable depeding on your system. If the audio is low level with these connectors, the problem may be the TV itslef. Aother option is to plug something else into the tv audio inputs (again you may need to have something plugged into the yellow video input. good luck

We have purchased a Samsung 55" Smart TV. We have it set up and working with Foxtel connected via the supplied fittings. How do we connect the DVD player?

The usual way is to connect it via a HDMI cable, for which the TV should have 2 or 3 input ports. You then select this HDMI as input on the TV to see a DVD playing.

Get a "high speed" HDMI cable. Some will say there is no difference between any HDMI cables, but they did see fit to increase the bandwidth in these cables for Blu-Ray DVDs.

I have the Samsung HT-C550 home theater system and a Sony 42" HD TV. The two devices work well when playing a DVD but when I watch TV I can't get the TV sound through the home system. I am...

Try this:

Purchase a 3.5 mm jack (it will have a smaller connnector going into the TV and Red and White connectors on the other end).

Pull all the other cables running into the Blu Ray player out so that you are only left with the HDMI Cable coming from HDMI Out (DVD) to HDMI/DVI In (TV), along with the 3.5 jack.

You will be able to play the TV sound through the system.

No sound or picture from dvd

And you have selected the HDMI2 input in the TV menu? If yes, try the dvd on another TV, if you have one. Also try reversing the HDMI cable.

My Samsung TV picture is supplied via a HDMI lead

yes you need to connect audio out from the tv to audio in on the dvd surround. you need the red/white phono to phono leads, simply connect together and select audio (av,au) on the input selection.

Hooking up home theater

Run a regular RCA type audio cable from your TV audio out to your Home Theatre audio in. That is what I have done recently with my Samsung LCD and Home Theater. You then have to put your Home Theater on Aux 1 or Aux 2 to get the sound from TV. Ensure your TV's volume is off.
