Question about Nikon Coolpix S3000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I bought a replacement LCD screen for my Nikon S3000 camera, but when I remove the back case, the connector for the LCD is under the silver plate. I can't figure out how to get the plate off to reach the connector so I can install the new LCD. I've removed screws, but it still lifts only halfway. Is there some kind of trick I'm not seeing to get this thing open?

You do not need to remove the silver plate use a small philpes screw drive to lift the screen ribbon out of the slot at the top of the plate. Their is a slot where the new ribbon slides into, once you lift the ribbon out of the slot pull it out from under the square plate. Pay close attention on how it comes out. Slide the other one under the plate, and put the tab in the slot.
The slot is there if you have a magnifin glass to see the slot.

My screen is black,whats wrong

Try to take a picture and then download to PC. If your picture is fine, then most probably, your LCD screen is bad. You need to replace it. Repair cost through retailers may be expensive. You can do it yourself by buying a used camera (one sold for parts, with good LCD),through ebay. (EBAY.com). Open the camera by removing 5-6 screws. You can get a small screwdriver set for $1 from dollar store. Onc ethe case is open LCD is directly accessible. Remove the LCD by first removing the LCD connecting cable from the connector. There is a small pressure plate (locking mechanism) in the connnector. Slowly lift the pressure plate and pull out the connector lead. Replace the LCD. The following sites give good instructions on replacing LCD. Look at those sites before you do it.

I have a nikon coolpix s3000 purple.it is 12 megapixels 4x wide zoom and 2.7 inch lcd-zoom was out-not kept in case-dropped on carpet on cruise ship maybe about 3 feet-get lens error-screen comes on but...

Your photos will not be affected by this fault. Just take the memory card out of the camera and read it with a card reader attached to the computer.

Unfortunately the camera will probably need an expensive repair, or if that isn't economic, replacement.

Nikon Coolpix S210 lcd broken - need step by step instructions

Most cameras are not that hard, if you are careful and willing to make notes of where each screw came from.
Be sure to get the correct screwdriver to fit the screws correctly and use enough pressure directly to loosen each screw...this is quite important, because if you strip the screw's head, it can be messy.
Most LCD screens are directly under the back cover, and can be replaced usually, once the back is off, remove three or four screw which will hold the LCD frame on. Once that is loosened, then you can carefully remove the screen and see if you need to remove anything else before loosening the cable plug. Take care here, because there are a few different ways these cables may be connected. Some are simply pushed into a connector. Some have a socket which has locks which must be loosened to remove the cable. These little sliding plug connectors are delicate, so you must take it slow and not rush the job. Some of these fold up to loosen, some simply slide away a bit to loosen the plug lock.
Most anyone who has done any delicate work on anything electronic will understand what I am talking about here.
A repair manual may be able to be downloaded for free, but you may have to be a member (usually free) in order to download manuals. Some may charge a small fee for the pdf file.
Hope it all works okay.

How to replace LCD monitor/screen in an Olympus C5050 camera

Easy, remove the 9 screws that hold the rear case and pull the case apart,.remember there are 4 screws under the hotshoe base and 4 under the memory door and one under the USB cover. You need to pry and slide the hotshoe base back with a slim screwdriver and youll see 4 screws, remove the rear ones. There will be 2 ribbon cables attached to the rear case, the LCD and the buttons. These pull out carefully with gentle pressure. The LCD can be removed with screws and another ribbon cable connector that needs to be unclipped and then removed. replace LCD, Put it back together and make sure the ribbon cables are fully seated. Good to go.
