I use a USB when watching movies. The movie I was watching tonight did not finish, the screen went black at around 01:28:05 and restarted from the beginning, why did that happen?

It doesnt really matter as of how many movies are there in the USB. There is a chance that the movie might be corrupted. Just check it in your computer and see. The movie file itself must have been corrupted.

Fn f1 diidnt do it, hdoes any one no if i can fix it wihout having to replave moniter or connection switch?

I think you are hitting the wrong Function Key combinations. Why are you using an external monitor anyway? What is wrong with the laptop's LCD Screen?

Plug in an external monitor and see if thedisplay shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crtmonitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vgaport. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will showon most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systemswill require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold downthe FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thruF12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will havethe icon of a display.

Each time you press the FN key plus the correct Function Key it toggles the Display between three stages (Show on Laptop only, Show on External Monitor Only, Show on both the laptop and the external monitor).

I'm trying to hokk up my old dell moniter,i brook the screen

Hello,

First, make sure that your old dell monitor is working. Also make sure that the VGA out-port on your laptop is also working (by using a known good screen on it first)

Connect the Dell screen onto the VGA port of the laptop, then use "FN and F6" to source to the Dell monitor as external unit. There should be a mini screen that pops up where you can choose the monitor with the FN F6 key combination.

This happens, and unless your startup disk is locked up and needs some swap space, it's just a matter of a screen whose time has come.

ACER cracked screen..external monitor???

Hi there.
The keyboard toggle you are using is the correct one.
Sometimes you have to hit Fn + F5 a couple of times to stay on there is no real set time. Make sure Fn + F6 is on so the laptop screen stays on.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Laptop screen comes on after several startups

Hi there.
The laptop is suffering from major issues with the bios.
Seeing as the laptop is only 6 months old i would recommend that you take advantage of the manufacturers warranty, providing the fault is not user fault (by what you explain its hardware) they will fix the issue or replace the laptop at no cost to yourself. Standard warranty is 12 months.
I don't want to tell you to start messing about with it as doing so will void the warranty.
While you are still able to use it back up all of your data before you send it in.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Hi Tori1206,
Usually Laptops use the F3 key as toggle for switching from laptop monitor another external monitor. So you might try depressing the F3 key to switch back to the laptop monitor...
