What you are experiencing seems to be high memory usage. In so, your computer is slowing itself down with the amount of processes it is running.
If this is a older computer, this is understandable as newer programs need more memory.
When you try to switch the computer off, it seems as if it is lagging therefore it isn't quite registering the fact that you want it to turn off.
If you really want to turn it off for good, you can always hold the power button until it turns off. A quick tap will not suffice.

Solutions:
Get a new computer
Upgrade your laptop - try investing in RAM, or a new CPU (A typical computer can run quickly w/ 2gbs of RAM)
Limit the amount of processes/programs you run at a time.

If this isn't the reason, you may have a virus that may be eating all your memory.
Solution: Download and run Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Scan and then remove the virus/bugs/worms that may be present.

Oven left on shut itself off how to reprogram

Hi Shannon Turner - Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If it proves to be ineffective, the range could possibly have a faulty element(s), wiring failure, or a communication error with the EOC. Connect with a professional to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issues if issue continues.

Why does my monitor have colored vertical lines?

Hi Shannon,

I don't have good news for you. Coloured vertical lines is a symptom of terminal failure of LCD screens. Most common in laptops, monitors, and TVs. Problem only gets worse with time with more lines appearing, then expanding to cover a whole side of the screen. 30 - 50% normally.

My Internet is connected but I can't get on it. I went to diagnose the problem and it says my Internet is connected properly. so why can't I get on the Internet?

Try physically connecting an ethernet cable to the router (aka hard wired) if you connect normally your settings are missed up.
If you still can't connect you have a problem with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and you need to call they to fix the issue.

My laptop went to white screen every time when I on it. How to solve....my laptop -- aspire 4710z -- almost 2 years but it happened JUST it 4 mths.....

Hi..

Your problem are related with my laptop problem, but i totally fix it with my own. From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following:
1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen.
2. Defective LCD screen.
3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
1-laptop-white-screen.jpg Here’s an example of a laptop with white screen. When you turn on the laptop, it starts but the image on the screen is completely white right from the beginning. In my case it was a Toshiba Satellite M45 laptop but this problem may occur with any other brand.

2-external-video-works.jpg
Most likely you still can use the laptop with an external monitor. Just connect the monitor to the VGA port on the back or side of your laptop and then switch the video output from internal to external mode.
On Toshiba laptops you can toggle between internal and external screens using Fn+F5 keys. Hold down Fn and press on F5 until you get video on the external monitor.
On IBM laptops use Fn+F7.
On HP laptops use Fn+F4.
It’s possible that you have to use a different key combination on your laptop but you get the idea.
On some laptops, in order to be able to use the external monitor, you have to connect it to the laptop and then restart the laptop so the external monitor is detected by the laptop.
3-video-cable.jpg I noticed that in some cases the laptop screen may turn white because of poor connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. If you want to check this connection, you’ll have to take apart the display panel because the connector is located on the back side of the LCD screen.

4-reconnect-video-cable.jpg I always check the video cable connection first. Reconnecting the video cable may fix your problem.
If reconnecting the video cable doesn’t help, most likely you have a problem either with the LCD screen or with the motherboard.
5-disconnect-lcd-screen.jpg The best way to find out witch one is causing the problem is testing the laptop with another working LCD screen. Without this test you’ll have to guess because as I mentioned before this could either bad motherboard or bad LCD screen.
You’ll have to disconnect the video cable from the LCD screen (connector 2) and the inverter board (connectors 3 and 1). After that you connect another working screen and test video.
6-test-with-another-lcd-screen.jpg For this purpose you using one of my test LCD screens. My test screen is cracked and because of that you see a wide white band in the center but it still works fine for this test.
The original screen is white but my test screen works normal (except the crack of course) and I can see the image. After this test I can tell that the problem must be related to the screen.
7-white-lcd.jpg After I'm assembled everything back together and connected the original LCD, it’s still white.
In my case this problem is related to the LCD screen and it has to be replaced.

That's my laptop brand and model, and i am searching an image regarding about my problem. This problem are common to another brand.

Hope it may helpful for you!

Good luck

Internet connection works on one laptop but not the other

First try forcing the DNS Address by channging the option to use the following DNS address in TCP/IP properties. primary DNS is 4.2.2.1 and the secondary DNS is 4.2.2.2 then try to connect. This should work if it doesnt follow the steps 2.
If it is Vista, then Vista has two FW administration user interface screens. One looks as the XP admin UI screen, and the other one is different and is the Advanced FW UI.
> Go to the Adv FW UI which is off of Control Panel. The icon looks like a brick wall.
> It will show you all the FW rules. So look for the filter name, and you can right-click the line and do what you need to do.Let me know whether this works?

Acer Aspire 5585 Laptop LCD Problem

Have you tried booting into "Enable VGA" mode via the "Windows Advance Option" screen? By press F8 before Windows XP loading screen comes up. In this mode the Video Card drivers are disabled. So if your screen appears normal and not white in this Mode then it is your video card drivers which are causing the issue.
