Sometimes routers lock up. Try shutting down the router (unplug if there is no on/off), wait 30sec, then turn back on. See if that doesn't help.

Next try changing your DNS settings to something other then the ISP's settings. To change you need to get to the network properties, and change the TCP/IP settings. Best way is to click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL. NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Right click on LOCAL AREA NETWORK (if you are physically connected), and go to properties.

Once there, scroll down to INTERNET PROTOCAL (TCP/IP), highlight it, and click on PROPERTIES.

Here is where you can enter new DNS settings. I use 206.13.29.12, and 206.13.30.12 respectively. You can do a search for DNS servers on the internet and put one in there to see if it solves your issue.

Just a NOTE: Recently ISP's have been updating their systems and DNS servers due to a flaw in the DNS design which is world wide. If your issue of reaching some sites fails and is recent, it could be due to this update process.

Hello, I am currnetly using a Belkin ADSL2+ modem with wireless G Router and have just been given a D-Link Dir-855 Xtreme N Duo router I wish to use and have been told I can buy a ADSL Modem only to...

I think there is no need to replace the ADSL2+ Router.
Belkin is fine and should work well in combination with the D-Link Router and you would get the downlink data rate up to 300Mbps.
I recommended that you use Belkin Router as ADSL Modem and Dlink to provide wireless access. (Instead of buying ADSL Modem)
So, all you have to do is : -
-Turn-off wireless signal of the Belkin modem.
-Connect the Dlink Router to the Modem (Belkin) through CAT6 Cable.
-Configure the Dlink Router, Secure it and Enjoy 300Mbps Data Rate.

(In this way your Belkin will serve as ADSL Modem and Dlink would be the wireless router)

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Sitecom WL-342 Wireless Router won't access internet.

Hello,

Make sure there is a network cable going from your ADSL modem into the WAN connection of the router.

If the ADSL modem is wireless, then it is also a router in whihc case you will want to bypass the WL-342 all together.

Thanks,

Pat

Belkin router is unable to connect to 2Wire ADSL modem/router. 2Wire router has DHCP server enabled and Belkin has DHCP server disabled. Belkin is set to obtain an IP automagically. 2Wire IP is...

If the Internet light is off then there is a problem with the phone line to the ADSL modem or the modem is faulty or there is a problem at the telephome exchange.
Disconnect the phone cable at the ADSL modem and connect a phone handset to this cable - check for a dial tone and that you can dial out.
If you don't get a dial tone, use a different or new phone cable.
If the phone line is OK then : -
Ring your ISP to get them to test your connection to your ADSL
modem.

I'm having issues with the belkin F5D7234-4 and intermittent connectivity with the network, i'm running a compaq c502tu and the belkin G/G+ router, which the router is hooked up to a general custom built...

Of the Belkin Modem Routers I have used and supported, around 60-70% had connectivity issues.

If the Belkin was cabled there appeared to be less issues than if it was used in a Wireless and cabled capacity.

I suggested to another person only moments ago to quickly sketch a diagram to show, how the network is set up. Add labels to the piccy's which provide the following info:

1. Computer Types (Makes, Models) and OS (Vista, Windows7, Leopard etc...)
2. Connection Types (Wireless / Cabeled).
3. The IP Nos.
4. Modem Types (Make, Model). ie, Belkin F5D7234-4 Router.
5. ADSL or ADSL2.

If it is possible to upload the diagram to FixYa then I suggest you scan the diagram (sketch) or take a photo of it and put it on the computer so it can be uploaded to FixYa.

I only discovered FixYa yesterday and joined, so I am not sure what is possible yet, as I have been focussed on trying to find solutions or provide suggestions on where to find the solution.

I would be proactive and submit your problem directly to Belkin via their website, I have provided the Australian Belkin website link below:

http://en-au-support.belkin.com/

I hope this is helpful to you, please rate it. Regards,

Belkin wireless G+ MIMO ADSL2 + modem routerF5D9630

You need to find out what settings need to be changed in the router to communicate to the new modem. Etisalat should have some type of instructions on how to configure it...Does the IP address get obtained automatically or is it manually configured. Does the modem require authentication..like a password. Did they replace the modem or just upgrade the system? You may just ahve to reset the modem and router to get reconnection. Most routers use the IP address of 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 to get to the router settings control panel. Just enter one of these addresses on internet explorer and a screen should ask for a password. The default password is usually ADMIN but consult the routers manual for instructions. Once you are in the router control manual you can configure the router to work with the new system.

Wireless router says its working laptop says no its not

Your sister was accessing the wireless access point at school which is connected to the Internet/WEB access via a router and the school's broadband service provider.
For you to access the Internet using your wireless adapter on your laptop, you need your own wireless access point and connect it to a broadband ADSL or cable modem and then connect it to an Internet Service Provider. Some Internet Service Providers (cable and ADSL) can supply a combined modem/router/wireless Access point.
If you already have a broadband modem all you need is a wireless access point/router. You only need to configure the wireless access point and your wireless adapter so they will communicate with each other. Folow the instructions in the manuals.

Networking

You actually have a couple of issues here. Fix these in this order. 1.) Login to router and turn off wireless (if you're not wanting to use wireless) 2.) Connect the ADSL modem CAT5 port to the WAN port of the Belkin router. 3.) Login to router and turn on NAT and make sure DHCP is enabled. 4.) On your Windows machine turn on DHCP under the network settings. This should allow your connection to be setup automatically and stop wireless access on the Belkin router. Let me know if you need more help. JC
