Question about Toshiba DR570 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

I put in a new disc to record and ( and get "Recording error, can not record on this disc." E 4 54039000. Seems like it doesn' want to format as usual. This just started about a 2 weeks ago...I've had this unit for just less then a year! The manual doesn't address this particular problem.. Oh yes....It plays okay, however. And I have tried resetting, unplugging etc. Think you can help?

E4 error code means that the disc isn't being read, because the unit is dirty or the optical eye is going out .You have to get a cleaning kit and then proceed.

you may try this:
unplug from wall, wait 15 minutes, plug back in, and reset the clock,
or
The disc must be DVD-R with an R4.7 under the logo and they MUST be 4X or 8X specific .... the cannot be 1X - 8X or 1X - 16X or note up to 16X .... the disc box must state 4X or 8X ONLY .... and yes they are hard to find for sure

The manual says this is a dual format machine and can use DVD+/-R up to 16x.. See user manual page 27 it even says what brands they recommend.

Yep. I'm getting the same problem. I have a Toshiba DR430KU and have been using DVD +RW discs for an entire year. I'm still on the same pack. After a while the discs stop functioning properly, so I throw it out and grab a new disc from the pack and format it. Well this time it gave me an error message exactly like you stated. I tried unplugging and reseting clock. Nothing. I bought a cleaning disc with the soft brushes on it. Nothing. The only other solution I found online was to take it apart and grab a q-tip and brush the lens with rubbing alcohol and then use the other side of the dry q-tip to wipe it off. Let it sit and dry off and put it back together. I'll look around but can't find any other solution.

On another site this is what I found, sad to say, "Your Recording Laser has gotten weak it cant pass the write test to proceeed to the format stage where it will then begin recording. The repair is not economical it is time for a new unit as a laser will cost 3X what a new machine will cost and that is IF it can be found."

Tascam md-350 "cannot copy" error

Like all home recorders, yours will not let you digitally record digital originals. The Serial Copy Management System (SCMS) is designed to prevent piracy.

Unfortunately it also means you cannot copy your own digital originals digitally.

Record them via the analog input. It will sound fine.

I have a Toshiba DVR620ku DVD/VCR combo. I have the Format Mode properly set to "Video mode." I put in a new, unformatted DVD-R, and the player should format the DVD, but it doesn't. I click...

My brother had the same problem. Toshiba tech support said the disc was already formatted, so the DVD MENU option would not be available. He went straight to dubbing and recorded to the disc. After recording, the DVD MENU option was then available. He thought the disc was not formatted since it was straight out of the package and he always had to format other new discs. Perhaps your disc was actually already formatted?

Denon CDR-W1500 not recording

I had the exact problem and could not get any of the CR-Rs that I had to work. I looked up the code in the user's manual where it said the error means it's not a recordable audio CD and to refer to page 6. I looked at the front of the manual and saw that it mentions that the CD-Rs must be audio CD-R discs. I did some research online and found that there are in fact differences between CD-Rs that are just marked that and those marked as Audio or Music CD-Rs. I bought a set of CD-Rs that clearly had marked "Compact Disc Digital Audio Recordable" on the package. When I inserted this disc, I had no problems getting the recording to work. So, make sure the discs you use are clearly marked "Audio" or "Music". A computer burner won't know the difference, but your Denon recorder will.

Recording Error "Can not record on this disk/E4 54037380

I had that exact same problem. I would record a bunch of dvds with no problems for months and then some and one day it doesn't work. Only this showed up E4 EA03738B. However I've found the solution. Instead of going out and returning the recorder or buying new dvds just purchase a Laser Lense Cleaner. It's a dvd cleaner. Works like a charm.
