hi,
it is not 64 MG, its 64MB, it has a very low memory capacity, this memory card is used for still snaps, you can find the snap button on the cam, this cam will not support much bigger GB memory sticks.

I bought a new Memory stick for my Sony DCR-TRV320 Camcorder and when i switch my device to memory mode, it tells me "Memory Stick Error."

Check the following:
Memory Stick is inserted in correct position and orientation in camcorder. Try re-inserting several times.
Write-protect tab is switched to allow writing to memory stick (on back of memory stick)
Memory Stick is formatted in FAT file system (this should already be done except if memory stick has been formatted in a computer in a different format)
Memory Stick is not over the maximum capacity memory stick of the camcorder.
Memory Stick is not full.
Memory Stick is clean and dry.
The dcr-trv320 is a 2000 yr. model and came with a 4mb capacity stick and can probably only use up to a 128mb capacity stick or possibly 256mb. Most memory sticks you can buy today are 1GB, 4GB, 8GB etc. memory stick pro duo. and are probably incompatible. E-Bay has some of the old memory sticks like the 128mb for sale.
There is a slight possibility that static electricity discharge zapped the stick. Try another memory stick or try the stick in another device.

I need the memory stick number to my dcr-trv18 what memory stick do i need

Your camcorder uses the original Sony memory sticks in the following capacities:
4Mb, 8Mb, 16Mb, 32Mb, 64Mb and 128Mb. All but the 128Mb have been discontinued. You can look online for the 128Mb memory stick from many vendors. You may find the other ones from E-bay.

Is the memory stick of sony handy cam minidv trv-18 expandable?

On many cameras , the picture format that you can save on memory stick is not the same that you can have by recording on tapes. It should be tha same on your handycam.

You can increase memory stick to at least 2GB, that is what sony reccomends, you can test a 4 gb to 16 gb at the shop, if it works , then buy it.

However, the quality of movies grabbed on memory stick, should be far less than the one of movies recorded on tape.

Memory stick recording

that means your camcorder is set to record on the disc not on the memory card. try to look on the settings on your camcorder there's an option fo you to choose like disc or memory card to be use as recording. hope that helps!

Memory Stick for the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 105

This camera uses memory stick duo memory. If you refer to p. 31 of the user manual found here:
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD105-205-305.pdf
It is right beneath the strap.
Keep me posted. I hope you find this FixYa worthy.
Thanks,

Sony camcorder model dcr-pc105e

I have been putting up with the same problem for 6 months. I finally had had enough and ripped the camera to pieces. It turns out there is a design fault in all the cameras with electronics in the loading door. You see, to enable the device in the door to function, there needs to be wires feeding it. Those wires get "metal fatigue" after so many openings and closings and break off. So, when it happens, you need to learn to live without it, or bin it. Cheers.
