Question about RCA RCRN03BR Remote Control

2 Answers

Request specific code or codes to program the RCA Universal Remote RCRN03BR to operate JVC DVD/VCR type HR-XVC33U. The codes provided in the remotes instructions provide only partial functionality on the JVC unit, whether entered manually or in the search-by-brand mode. For example, the MENU function does not work. Thanx for any help here.

Thanx very much for the responses! Unfortunatey, these are essentially the same techniques and info provided in the paperwork with the remote. The search methods do generate multiple codes which will turn the VCR/DVD on and off, but do not provide full functionality via this remote. (EX: The MENU function doesn't work). So I'd like to drill down into this, to the point where somebody can tell me the specific code that speaks to this device.

Found some quick solutions including the manual for you

first here is the link for hte code list and manual http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/remotes/2-3-devices/?sku=RCRN03BR
which i got from various sites after researching your problem for about 30 minutes please let me know if this works i hope i helped i tried really hard

if that doesnt work try these methods PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I HELPED

for this first method you need the direct code which is 04

  1. Manually turn on the component you want the remote to control.
  2. Locate the Brand Codes in the Code Lists.
  3. Press and hold the component key you wish to program. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns on and remains on.
  4. While holding the component key down, press and hold the ON·OFF key. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns off.
  5. After holding both keys down for three seconds, the illuminated ON·OFF key turns back on.
  6. Release both keys. The illuminated ON·OFF key remains on.
  7. Refer to the Brand Codes. Press and release the appropriate brand code key (Numbers 0-9), using the number keys. The illuminated ON·OFF key blinks once.
    • Note: If you do not press a valid Brand Code Search key, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks four times and turns off. The last programmed code under that component key is retained.
  8. Press and release the ON·OFF key repeatedly until your component turns off. Each time you press the ON·OFF key, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks, and the next code is sent. The Brand Code Search begins with the first code in the chosen brand list for that component and cycles through all the codes for that brand. If your component turns off, you have found the correct code. (If it cycles through and the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks four times and turns off, all codes in the chosen brand list have been searched and another programming method should be tried. The Brand Code Search mode is exited.)
  9. Once you have found the correct code, save that code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns off. You must press the STOP key to save the code or the correct code will not be stored!
  10. To confirm that the component key is programmed with the correct code for maximum functionality, test the component. Attempt to control a variety of the component's functions with the remote. If some of the features of your component do not work, program the remote with a different programming method.
if not try this for auto code search

STEP :
  1. Manually turn on the component you want the remote to control.
  2. Press and hold the component key you wish to program. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns on and remains on.
  3. While holding the component key down, press and hold the ON·OFF key. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns off.
  4. After holding down both keys for three seconds, the illuminated ON·OFF key turns back on.
  5. Release both keys. The illuminated ON·OFF key remains on.
  6. Note: If you press an invalid key during Auto Code Search, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks four times and turns off. The last programmed code under that component key is retained.
  7. Press and release the PLAY key, then wait five seconds to see if your component turns off. If your component does not respond, continue to press the PLAY key every five seconds until your component turns off. Each time you press the PLAY key, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks ten times and a block
of 10 codes is sent to your component. This process continues until all of the codes in the Code Lists have been searched. (If your component has not turned off after all codes have been searched, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks four times and turns off. The Auto Code Search Entry method is exited.)
  8. When your component turns off, you know the correct code is in the last block of 10 codes sent. Press and release the REVERSE key. Wait two seconds to see if your component turns on again. If your component does not respond, continue to press the REVERSE key every two seconds until your component turns on again. This will isolate the correct code in the last block of codes sent. Each time the REVERSE key is pressed, the illuminated ON·OFF key blinks.
    • Note: If you accidentally press the REVERSE key after your component responds, press and release the FORWARD key. Then, wait two seconds to see if your component turns off again.
  9. Once your component turns on, you have found the correct code. Save the new code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. The illuminated ON·OFF key turns off. You must press the STOP key to save the code or the correct code will not be stored!
  10. When you press the STOP key, the code is stored.

one thing of bad news i called rca after i read this (fast phone response) this remote will not according to them do anything more then volume and tv not the menu option for your device. (how stupid is that.) i have another solution for you that i recommend to every1 who needs a good universal remote
i suggest buying a really nice universal remote from logitec its called the harmony it runs about 30 bucks for the 420 model with an lcd screen. from amazon.com it allows you to connect to your pc to install all the codes for all your devices by just telling the software what tv dvd player etc you have. and unlike most universal remotes it will control everything at once nolonger needing to hit the tv button to change channels and home theater or dvd button to turn on movies and change volume also lets u set up other activities where if you want to watch a movie it will turn on the dvd player, home theater system and tv to the right inputs same thing with gaming and everything different activities one press of the button and everything is set up. also it has a nice on screen lcd with a help built in that will allow you to fix a problem if u accidentally set up a setting wrong via the pc it will fix it and store it in memmory

hope some of htis helps i tried my hardest for you. even called them for you

Why Am I Unable To Program The RCA Remote Control To Operate My Components

Why am I unable to program the RCA remote control to operate a component? Why am I unable to program the RCA remote control to operate a component? If you are unable to program the remote control to operate a component, review the following information:

Compatibility
If none of the programming procedures work, the universal remote control may not be compatible with your components, based on the type of infrared technology and the age of the components. Some RCA universal remote controls will only work with components manufactured after 1990.

Distance
If you are testing the remote control after you have entered a code, you may be too far away from the component or you may not have the remote control aimed directly at the component. Because the remote control uses infrared (IR) technology to communicate with components, there must be an unobstructed path between the remote control and the IR sensor on the component.

Code Entry Methods
If the Direct Code Entry method was used to enter the codes for your brand and the unit is still not functioning properly, try one of the automatic code search methods instead. During automatic code search, the remote searches for the correct code to program.

Modes
For the remote control to know which component you wish to operate, you must put the remote control in the correct mode by pressing the corresponding component button.

Combo Units
To program the remote control to operate combo units, such as TV/VCR’s, TV/DVD’s, or TV/VCR/DVD’s, use the combo codes in the Code List to program the individual corresponding component buttons. Once programmed successfully, the TV button controls the TV functions on your unit, and the DVD or VCR button controls the DVD or VCR functions, respectively. The codes in the combo section should be tried first, using the Direct Code Entry method on the TV and DVD or VCR buttons. If this is unsuccessful, use one of the Code Search methods to program your combo unit.

Batteries
Make sure the batteries are new and properly installed.

I would like to program an older Samsung tv to my JVC LP21036-038 Remote I need the codes?

Unfortunately, the JVC LP21036-038 remote can only control JVC devices. It doesn't have any adjustable codes. You can choose between 3 codes (A, B, and C) so that using 3 JVC video devices doesn't result in conflicts. This remote came with the JVC HR-XVC14BU among other devices. The manual for the VCR/DVD player is available from JVC support. The direct link to the manual is http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/90/LPT1148-001A.pdf . See page 17 of the manual for the details.

I'd recommend you get a cheap universal remote to control the Samsung TV and the JVC vcr/dvd player.

I wish that I had better news for you.
