Question about Toshiba Satellite A665-S6086 Laptop
Honestly, you may need to take it to a computer repair shop. A good repair man can 'crack' your laptop so you may log back in and change the password back. Ask around and get the most capable repair man to fix it. :) it is possible. Please let me know if I helped you, so my boss can pay me more!!

What make/model of computer? What operating system? What BIOS type/version/revision?
There IS a way to reset it without losing the data on the drive. It sounds like he has set up a password in the system BIOS or either password protected an entire volume in Win 200x/Vista.
If he has set a BIOS pw, you can remove the batteries and jumper the CMOS reset pin for a few seconds...IF you can get to it. If you can determine the BIOS name/version, I can probably put you onto a boot diskette that will clear the BIOS.
For 3 bucks, I'll send the boyfriend a virus!!! lol
