Question about Acer Aspire 4730-4947 Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop screen is flickering. The lower part had been really damaged coz it got stuck. The damage is getting bigger each time. Now it already damaged half my screen. When I asked some people from where I bought this laptop they said the LCD screen should be replaced and for me it is very expensive. Someone told me the monitor of this laptop can be changed and accordingly it costs way cheaper than the LCD replacement. Thank you. :D

You really do need to change the screen of the laptop to be able to use it. But pending the time it is changed, due to the expensive cost, u could connect the display to a desktop monitor. Though this might imepede mobility. Hope that helped though?

If it's new, return it A.S.A.P. for repair/replace, Unless it's been damaged or theated harshly, their is no reason for it to be giving you trouble in a month. If the AC jack is pulled, yanked, tugged...etc. it could damage the inside connections of the AC jack.

Horizontal red flickering lines on screen

I've seen this many times (red or pink lines) on an LCD screen when the video chip is over-heating... When is the last time you blew the dust out of the heatsink/fan area? Get some canned air and blow it out. Unless it's plugged really bad, the fan has died, or there has been permanent damage to the system, this should clear things up. Also, make sure you are using the laptop on a HARD surface, not actually on your lap, a pillow, couch, cloth covered table, etc. It needs airflow to keep it cool...

Laptop screen flickering diffrent colours

Hook a spare monitor to the video ouput usually on the back, if picture okay! the problem is the new LCD screen or video cable which you replaced, if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

Quote in Indian rupee for tft screen

Dear All,

I would never recommend Compaq Presario 17" series. Due to its over weight, even if we properly handle it, the screen get damaged. A scar will appear from the middle of the screen and slowly it spreads throughout the screen. HP will consider it as a physical damage and it will not be considered under warranty. This is a very serious issue and it is really costly to replace the display. I had contacted HP many times being a corporate customer. Still I didn't get good response from there end.
I am the Vice President of a company and I had already purchased the same laptop in bulk quantities. I really wonder what will be the case of individuals who purchase it, if a corporate company is facing lack of response from their end.

Both Screens Flicker after trying to replace touch screen

I finally solved the flickering problem on my DS (!), after I made my 1st engineering attempt overhaul shell, top screen and broken right hinge.   Was really frustrated about the flicker afterwards, and opened up unit back up too many times to debug (risked damage to cable ribbon everytime!).
Anyway turns out there's 2 hidden screws (location:  inside the battery compartment near where the front 'volume slider' is located) that adjusts the flickering (like how you need to calibrate an LCD monitor from doing same flickering effects) . You'll need a really (really!) small philips (+) screwdriver to do the adjustment.
Open up the battery cover with the VOL label upside down & facing you.  The adjustment screws are recessed deep inside the plastic...a right and left screw.  With the DS turned 'ON' to see the screen (whether you twist your neck to be able to see or have a mirror on the table in front of the DS)....slowly/carefully turn the screws to adjust until you like the clarity.  That's it.   The right screw = bottom screen.  The left screw = top screen.
Now.... on to figuring out how to replace or fix the broken Power toggle switch that I snapped off!  Currently using the toothpick method, but that's getting old!  Any suggestions, I'd appreciate it!
