Do you have the little speaker icon in the sys tray? There is also a sound control on your keyboard under the func key...press func the look over by the keypad and find the little speaker icon that is in blue color, and you can raise the volume on the keypad...also look in your hardware manager and make sure your audio card drivers are ok, and make sure a big red X is not over the sound card area, indicating a problem. I can walk you through all the checks, but make sure the volume is up on the computer in all areas before freaking out...I am sure it is not a hardware issue.

The audio driver should still be there, it has most likely just glitched. Go into the device manager and make sure the driver is still there. If the driver isn't there it will have a yellow question mark on the sound section, then you will need t go to HP's support site and download the driver. If the driver is there, then unistall it and reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the driver automatically. Then you may need to adjust the sound settings. Try this and let me know.

I have an inperion 1525 and after i reinstalled windows vista home premium, the internal speakers stopped working

It sounds like a driver issue. Go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs and enter your service tag. It should give you a list of available drivers for your system. Make sure that it specifies Windows Vista in the drop down menu. Check for audio drivers and install the most recent one.
