All I get on all 4 of our phones is searching, we can not call out or answer when the phone rings, but it does take messages. This has been on for over 24 hours. I did unplug the system and replugged and still no change. I have had these phones for over 4 years. What is going on?

Sounds like your handsets have lost registration to the base unit. I would try re-registering the handsets to the base unit. Some cordless phones must first be de-registered then they can be re-registered to the base unit. Here is a link where you can download the manual for your phone model if you need it. I have also included a link where you can order batteries for your handsets in case you determine that the batteries are causing your handsets to lose registration with the base unit.

How can i limit the number of rings before the answering machine kicks in on my panasonic 6.0 phone

Answering system settings Number of rings before the unit answers calls You can change the number of times the phone rings "Ring count" before the unit answers calls. You can select 2 to 7 rings, or "Toll saver". The default setting is "4". "Toll saver": The unit's answering system answers at the end of the 2nd ring when new messages have been recorded, or at the end of the 4th ring when there are no new messages. If you call your phone from outside to listen to new messages , you will know that there are no new messages when the phone rings for the 3rd time. You can then hang up without being charged for the call. 1 {MENU} i {#}{2}{1}{1} 2 {V}/{^}: Select the desired setting. i {Save} i {OFF}

THE ANSWERING SYSTEM WON'T RECORD MESSAGES,ALL MESSAGES GOES INTO POOVIDERS VOICE MAILE, AS IF MY PHONE IS BUSSEY?????? I CHECKED AND RECORD TIME IS NOT SET TO ANNOUNCE ONLY ANS ALL MESSAGES HAVE BEEN...

This happens when the number of rings to answer of the provider voicemail is less than the number of rings to answer that the answer machine is set for. For example: if your provider voicemail rings to answer is set for 3 rings and the answer machine is set for 4 rings then the voicemail answers before the 4th ring, therefore the answer machine will never get a message. I would call the service provider's customer service number and request they increase the rings to answer above the number of rings to answer that the answer machine is set for. If you don't want voicemail to answer any calls(when your line is busy or when the answer machine is turned off) ask your service provider to disable voicemail.

Instead of going to my message the phone rings out and and goes to voice saying sorry we can not take your message please try again later

It may be similar to the problem I had with the wireless home phone with answering machine not taking messages when had the answering machine set to 12 rings before answering. Found the sim card (my wireless system) auto response would answer first. Fixed it by reducing time to 6 rings and answering machine now comes on first. This might resolve it for you.

Our phones only ring 4 rings before going to message bank. We have a telstra wall connection, and 3 panasonic KX-TG1840AL

Hi,

You can change the number of times the phone rings before the unit answers calls.
You can select 2 to 7 rings, or “Auto”.

“Auto”: The unit answers after 2 rings when new messages have been recorded, and
after 5 rings when there are no new messages. If you call your phone from
outside to listen to new messages, you will know that there are no messages when the phone rings for the 3rd time. You can then hang up without being charged for the call.

1 Press OK.
Select Answer System, then press >(Right navigation button).
2 Select Settings, then press >.
3 Select Number of Rings, then press >.
4 Select the desired setting, then press >.
5 Press End button

I have philips landline phones. My main phone does not ring or flash when an incoming call comes in. I t won't go onto answer phone either it just rings out. I can pick it up and answer the call. i can...

Looks like the basic functions of the phone are correct. Remain the answering machine. Are you sure it can act as an answering machine?
If it can act as answering machine the reason it is not doing so may be the following.
  1. Answering function is turned OFF
  2. Answering function may be ON but the number of rings before it answers is set too high.
I suggest you try the following
Call you phone. Let it ring at least 10 times. If it can act as an answering machine it will pick up the phone and read the welcome message, because most answering machines (the recent ones at least) answer after 10 rings even if answering function is turned OFF.

The phones that can be answering machines usually do have a display that shows the number of incoming messages, or a LED that flashes to let you know that you have new recorded messages.
