Typically if the connection on the tv doesn't work right away with the composite cables, (red white and yellow) it's the cables.
I would suggest you replace the cables that you're using, this may alleviate the issue.

My daughter has the Disney 13" tv. It's been working fine then all of a sudden it won't play the DVD anymore. It's stuck on the blue 'Disney' screen. Can you help figure out the problem??

Usually kids tv's in bedrooms collect more dust than downstairs.
The laser probably needs cleaning with a special disc or stripping down and doing properly

Why cant i get my wii console to work in color

Well it might either be the tv or the av cables that is causing the wii system to be in black grey and white then.
Picture Is Black and White or Does Not Appear Situation:
  • The console powers on and shows a black and white image on the television screen
  • The console powers on and there is no image on the television

What to do:
  • Determine whether the Standard AV Cables (packaged with the system) or the Component Cables (sold separately) are being used.

  • AV Cables

    • Ensure the yellow, red, and white cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

    • If the TV does not have the yellow, red and white inputs, it will most likely have component inputs which allow standard AV cable use. Try these AV hookup steps. (How To)

  • Component Cables

    • Ensure the red, blue and green video cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

Still Not Resolved:
  • If the television is continues to show a black and white image when powering on the Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired. Please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we may assist you further.

Wii powers up doesnt have a picture or sound tv screen.

    • With the yellow, white, and red AV cables that came with your system:

      • Did you have to use the red/green/blue inputs on your TV because it doesn't have the standard (yellow) AV inputs? If so,click here for complete information on doing this type of hook up.

      • If this is your first time hooking up the Wii console or have you moved it to another TV, please click here to review our step-by-step connection guide. Our experience shows that many times this issue can be solved by double-checking your connection and finding the correct Input Select for your TV or VCR.

    • With the blue, green, white, and red component cables (sold separately):

      • Review our step-by-step Wii Component Cable connection guide to make sure the cables are properly inserted and that your TV is set to the proper input.

If you have verified the connection is correct, and are still receiving a blank or black and white screen when powering on your Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired. Please call 1-800-255-3700

The picture appear black&white. I have HDTV.

I had this problem with a 'universal' console component video cable. Had a B&W Wii screen, and couldn't set the Wii to HDTV.

Spent most of an afternoon switching the Wii between LCD televisions, annoying Samsung tech support (who are a very, very good tech support system, by the way) and so on.

Took back the cable and the guy said, "Did you remember to turn the little TV/HDTV switch here?"

There IS a tiny little switch on these combo cables, right on the common point of the various console connector plugs. I switched it. It worked. All is good again. Hope so for you too.

How to connect a wii to my tv

Hello,

Please take your AV Cord and hook it up to your wii and your tv. There are 3 colors. Red/White/Yellow

Once hooked up, take your remote and switch the Video Input on your tv. (look for the input button)

Make sure the Wii is powered on and you should see it pop up on the screen.

No Color Picture

Are you using the Red/Green/Blue cables or are you using the Red/Yellow/White?

Also make sure you are matching the colors up correctly. If you find that you only have two of the three RYW, try hooking it up to another AV jack on the side or front of the new TV. If you are using the RGB, sometimes in low light settings, the blue and green are easily mixed up.

Another thing you might want to try is changing your settings on your tv for NTSC as it might be set up for PAL.

Plug in the wii system and everything comes in black and white

Try plugging it into another scart socket, this sometimes happens when a tv does not support 60hz. the result is a screen that has no colour. You could try just plugging it onto the seperate av inputs. Most tv's these days have one scart that will work ok and in colour.
