I've had this issue too on my HP G72.
Install any updates to Adobe's Flash player. If this doesn't work try reinstalling Adobe Flash.
Also make sure to install any available updates to your computer. Hopefully these tasks will work. My Youtube video's randomly started just showing black a few months ago, especially whenever a HD/even 420p video was played.
Best of luck!

When I play dvds or watch videos on youtube the screen has a black border on both sides reducing the size of the screen

If you hit full screen on the youtube video and its not full screen, then it sounds like your monitor resolution is to low.

Rt click on a place on your screen and pick screen resolution, then pick resolution and increase it.

The first number is width, so say it's on 800x600 then go 1024x768

Youtube just produces a green screen

You may need to update your Adobe Flash Plugin. Use another browser to see if the problem occurs.

I can't hear anything when I watch youtube. Why?

Step 1:

it could be one of 2 things. either its youtube or you.

Step 2:

YOUTUBE CHECK: go onto a video and scroll over the icon on the video that is next to the play button. scroll over it and you will see a tab that you can move for sound. if that doesnt work you can try this other way.

Step 3:

COMPUTER CHECK: first make sure you have some sort of a speaker for sound to come out of. ok. now, check to see if they are plugged in. if they are and are still not working go to the lower right hand corner of your computer screen click the tiny button that looks like a megaphone you can change the volume now. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Compaq wont play youtube videos

Make sure your computer meets these requirements. Flash player installed would be the most important.

Hi , when i try to play a video on you tube it just displays a small black screen and doesnt play and i have the new java and flash player , can you help ?

Hello lewis_a_1,
You will need to clear the cache (temporary internet files) in your browser! I had this happen earlier this week with YouTube.
If you need step-by-step help, please provide your browser and version!
If this was helpful, please give me thumbs up!

The video screen is black no matter what i do

When this happened to me, I did the following. I have a Windows Vista Operating system. On my browser tool bar, I clicked on Tools, then Internet Options. On the Security tab, I clicked on Reset Defaults for all 4 zones (internet, intranet, allowed sites, and blocked.) I then had to reboot. I hope this helps.

Thank you for reaching out to FixYa.
