Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Using Windows 7 in a brand new Dell. After a week or so on startup I got this popup: "There was a problem starting C:\users\myname\appdata\local\KBDacapi.dll" The specified module could not be found. Then things started happening. My mouse pointing speed will slow down for no reason. Right in the middle of moving it, the speed will decrease. I have to reset it and restart for it to move quickly again. The "num lock" light will turn on of its own volition, and I cannot turn it off. Any ideas what might be going on here?

Thanks very much. I used Malwarebytes and it detected 4 nasties and then got rid of them. I bought the full version, and I get lots of popups from it saying Malewarebytes is stopping my computer from contacting this IP address: 221.192.199.46. I searched for that, and it appears to be someplace in China. Do you know what's up with that?

Again, I'm very grateful for your help.

I've honestly never been without antivirus protection, ever. This new computer came from Dell with McAfee Security Center. So you think I should ditch that and use eset?

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. C:\users\myname\appdata\local\KBDacapi.dll It seems that your system is infected with malware or kind a Virus.

Kbdsapi.dll is a Trojan/Backdoor. That may cause problems with the computer. You can do a full system scan on your computer usin an Anti-Virus program to get rid of it, do a System Restore or do a Clean OS installation because the registry of the computer is already damage. You can use the software provided below to see if you will be able to remove it and backup the files. Its a free trail Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware Program

Malware Bytes - For Malwares

Eset AntiVirus - For Virus

Just download it on your computer and do a scan. For Eset you need to re
gister your email so that they can provide you with a download link. Make sure you select the right version for your computer if it is 32 or 64bit.

Some Trojan/Backdoor virus won't allow you to install AntiVirus or AntiMalware programs so the only solution is to do a Restore to the state that it is working.

After you backup the files you can do a Hardware Restore by pressin
g CTRL + F11 on the POST (the black screen when the system is starting up) Screen when you restart the computer or you can use a Recovery Disk if you have one.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for usin
g Fixya.

You have that message because of the spyware, malware and trojans on the computer but since you have removed them you can ignore that you can also use the free anti virus from eset

Some hackers use malwares or spywares to access the computer of their victim so it is better to be protected. antivirus and antispyware really helps

you can stay with McAfee it is also a good one. aside from antivirus since you already have antimalware then its better now. because sometimes antivirus can't remove or detect malware same with antimalware sometimes they can't detect or remove virus. So with the protection that you have it is ok now.

Do you think computer is running hot? computer is freezing up or running slow could be a heat issue.

If it is not then try for updating the bios from dell support website - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&ServiceTag=&SystemID=STUDIO1749&os=BIOSA&osl=EN

also try to find out if there is any third party software which you might installed in your computer which is not compatible.
