The motor windings are very low resistance so checking for a short is difficult. However, It sounds like a open rather than a short circuit. The switch might be open. Try jumping the switch to see if that works. If not then visually inspect for opens. To go further would require a schematic, disconnecting wires, etc. It would help to have the nameplate information or a copy of the schematic to really help, Send me an email at vze2m6dn@verizon.net. Some one has assembled the rack to the wrong side of the steering wheel shaft, OR put the cable down the wrong side of the boat, OR switched from a pivot steering anchor to a transom mount anchor (you would have had a drag link left over.)

Trouble removing it from the transom? Is it C clamped into the transom? Or a bracket built of the transom?

Screen shows bottom fine but doesnt show any fish i have changed every setting but nothing works

Fish on the bottom show as a blur, similar to weed, and pelagics show the same, but because of there position they are easy to recognise. Large singe fish like schnapper and sharks tend to show as an upside down V. You will have to use it often and you will eventually, by experience be able to tell whether you are looking at fish or weed.

Speedometer Does Not Work on a 1999 monte carlo bluewater boat

do you have a digital gauge or a analog gauge? Analog gauge has a needle that points at numbers in a circle. Analog gauges are water pressure gauges. There is a water pickup on the transom of your boat or on the lower unit itself. the water pickup called a pitot on the transom looks like a finger with a rubber hose that goes through the transom to gauge. the biggest problem with this style is they stopped up or the hose breaks check with compressed air at low pressure.to much pressure will blow up gauge. gauge will jump up if the pitot or hose is not stopped up or broken. the water pickup on the lower unit is a hole to pickup water as it goes through the water it is eather stopped up or the hose on the upper portion of the lower unit is broken or off. again test with compressed air at low pressure. Digital gauges have a transducer that spins throught the water. the only test for it is making sure all connection are good and no broke wires. if connection and wire is good then the cheapest componet is the transducer replace it first.

CAN I POWER MY FISH FINDER GOING DIRECTLY TO THE

Yes you can. Basically the red wire goes to the fuse box connection. The fuse box should then be wired into the positive battery terminal. The black wire is the negative ground wire and needs to go directly back to your negative battery terminal or to a common negative buss bar.

2002 15hp mercurty 2 stroke long shaft need 2 know installation specs 4 propeller depth from top of transom model # 1015211zd

I have a 1979 Johnson 15hp Long shaft, and as a single motor just followed the rule of a shortshaft motor for a short transom and a longshaft for a deep transom. You have a little adjustment in the mount clamp. You want enough shaft not to cavitate and want the trim fin below the hull. If this is a kicker motor you want it deep enough for water pickup but less deep for drag on fixed mount.

Bravo one water on tiller arm

Assuming "tiller arm" is the steering arm (connects to steering actuator and disappears into transom plate, lay on top of engine - not running - and have a friend turn steering wheel, black arm that is coming out of transom and moving is steering arm), problem is most likely the seal on the vertical steering shaft. This shaft connects the steering arm to the gimble ring. Problem can be confirmed by visually checking for water coming from just below the steering arm with boat in water, or residue starting in same area with boat out of water. If this is confirmed to be the problem, repair is quite extensive. Entire transom assembly needs to be taken apart - sometimes requires removal of engine - then the seal can be replaced and the transom assembly put back together. Other items to check in the area would be the wiring for trim sender and limit switch and through hull gear lube fitting (if boat is new enough).

I have a Minn Kota Endura 30, transom mount. Just wondering, is there a way to rotate the controls so that I could use the motor on or near the bow of my 15' Aluminum fishing boat?

There is kind of a collar on the lower side of the head where the head connects to the shaft. There is a single bolt that runs right thru the shaft at this location, remove it. Rotate the head 180 degrees and re-install the bolt. 5 minute job.

Navman 4500 fish finder w/transom mount transducer

I finally got an email reply from Navman. If the unit is less than two years old (mine is not) they will repair it. If it is over two years old, or if you can't prove that it is less than two years old, you can ship it to them and they will repair it for the low, low price of 355 US dollars.

Pretty nice of them since it appears these units are highly problematic isn't it? I am wondering if they guarantee their fix, or just have you on the hook for another 355 dollars later.

Good Luck Everyone,

Walt
